Associates and Bruce L. Scheiner fighting for better water quality

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Nov. 19, 2018) – Clean water is worth fighting for. That’s why Associates and Bruce L. Scheiner, Attorneys for the Injured, supports Captains for Clean Water and the broader community effort to clean and restore Southwest Florida’s waters.
“This is where we work, where we play, and where we raise our children,” Bruce L. Scheiner said. “We all have an obligation to ensure the water, our most valuable resource, is restored and protected.”
P.J. Scheiner, a trial attorney for the firm, sits on the Captains for Clean Water Board of Directors. An avid diver, fisherman and outdoorsman, he has witnessed the devastating economic and environmental impacts of repeated, large-scale Lake Okeechobee discharges into the Caloosahatchee River estuary.
“Education, awareness and scientifically supported solutions are the keys to restoring our water and preserving our quality of life,” P.J. Scheiner said. “Together, we can fight special interests and misinformation to take the steps necessary to stop the harmful red tide and algae blooms in our waterways.”
The recent presidential signing of the Water Resources Development Act is an important first step, but more work remains to be done. The act green-lights the use of federal money for the $1.6 billion Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir, but it stops short of officially allocating the funding needed for the project, which would send water south of Lake Okeechobee.
It could be another year or two before the funding is formally appropriated, and nine or 10 years before the reservoir is built.
“We can’t afford to sit and wait,” P.J. Scheiner said. “The economic impact on our region is already in the billions. Our way of life is on the line.”
He and Captains for Clean Water are calling for additional efforts, including the acquisition of additional land for water storage and treatment north and south of Lake Okeechobee, changing the Lake Okeechobee regulation schedule, and funding Everglades restoration projects to remove barriers in the Everglades so water can flow south as it historically did.
Some proposed initiatives, such as “deep injection wells,” are scientifically specious, at best, and serve merely to distract from the water storage, treatment and conveyance solutions that are scientifically validated and universally understood to be necessary to solve the problem.
“It is more important than ever that the people of Southwest Florida have access to the information they need to understand the water crisis and how to fix it,” P.J. Scheiner said. “Luckily, the Captains for Clean Water website provides an easy-to-understand FAQ section so everyone can get informed, and an updated blog so everyone can stay informed.”
Visit captainsforcleanwater.org to see all the available resources and to join the Scheiners in the fight to preserve our water, now and for generations to come.
Associates and Bruce L. Scheiner, Attorneys for the Injured, was founded in 1971 by Bruce L. Scheiner and his wife, Cheryl Scheiner. Both continue to work alongside their son, P.J. Scheiner, who joined the firm as a trial attorney in 2007.
Today, Bruce and P.J. work side by side in the negotiating room and the courtroom, where they fight to secure full and fair restitution for each and every client they have the privilege of representing. Bruce Scheiner still hand selects each case the firm accepts, personally assembles the team best able to see the case through to settlement or trial, and oversees every case from intake to resolution.
Associates and Bruce L. Scheiner, Attorneys for the Injured, has the knowledge, experience and resources to handle all types of personal injury and wrongful death claims for clients across the state of Florida, including trucking accidents, boating accidents, airplane accidents, nursing home neglect and abuse, construction accidents, defective product claims, premise liability claims and injuries to children.

Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some) opens Nov.. 30th at The Laboratory Theater of Florida

“Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some)” opens at The Laboratory Theater of Florida
FORT MYERS, FL – (November 14, 2018) – It’s the holidays! Time for the classics:  Rudolph, Frosty, Ebenezer Scrooge, the Nutcracker, and many more… but maybe not the way we’re accustomed to hearing them. In what can best be called a holiday mashup, actors take beloved stories and traditions from around the world and turn them upside-down in this family-friendly show.
Artistic director Annette Trossbach is delighted to present this zany comedy: “This show is fun for the whole family. Three actors playing dozens of roles while changing characters and costumes onstage? It’s madness and hilarious, full of belly laughs.” Director Lauren Miller says, “If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to take everything you know about the holidays and flip it on its head, this show is what you’d get!”
“The play accomplishes the small miracle of making all Christmas myths seem both utterly ridiculous and absolutely essential. Yes, Virginia, you can have your fruitcake and eat it, too.” – Orlando Weekly
The cast includes Dave Matthew Chesebro, Heather McLemore Johnson, and Kayleigh O’Connell, directed by Lauren Miller and assistant directed by Steven Coe. The play is generously sponsored by CPK Wealth Management.
The theater has new seating. Rows A, B, and C are on the floor. Rows D and beyond are on risers.
“Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some)” plays from November 30th – December 22nd at The Laboratory Theater of Florida. Performance dates are as follows:
November 30 at 8 pm
December 1, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 at 8 pm.
December 9, 16, 22  at 2 pm
Special events surrounding this play include:
November 29: half-price preview night
December 2: Pizza and a free show for teenagers, starting at 6:30 pm, reservations required.
Tickets are available to purchase on Brownpapertickets.com or by calling the box office at 239-218-0481. For additional savings, guests may purchase a 2018-2019 Season Pass.

NAPLES, Fla. (Nov. 13, 2018) – The beauty of 10 decorated trees soon to grace the Waterside Shops will be eclipsed only by the beauty of the generosity they represent. Naples Senior Center at JFCS is partnering with Tiffany & Co. in “A Season of Giving,” a new philanthropic endeavor that celebrates the holidays and supports 10 nonprofit organizations in the Greater Naples area.
The trees will be on display and up for bids from Nov. 15-Dec. 6, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting the participating community organizations, including Naples Senior Center at JFCS. Bids may be placed at naplesseniorcenter.org while the senior center’s tree is on display.
“We are so proud to collaborate with the Waterside Shops and Tiffany & Co. on this special event,” said Dr. Jaclynn Faffer, President/CEO of Naples Senior Center at JFCS. “Both of them recognize the inherent value of giving back to the community, particularly when it comes to supporting seniors and families.”
A special gift from Tiffany & Co., valued at $1,000, will also go to the highest bidder for the Naples Senior Center tree.
The artificial tree is uniquely and professionally designed by Garden District, a floral arrangement boutique and event planning firm in Naples. The tree and design were selected to give the highest bidder a work of exquisite finery to admire for many years to come.
The money benefitting Naples Senior Center at JFCS will go toward providing seniors and families with the tools to address life’s challenges. The senior center offers an abundance of services designed to meet growing community needs, from dementia respite support to geriatric case management, social programs, a food pantry and more.
