We cannot thank Mike & Sandy Currid enough for having their company support our efforts in the area.  You can learn more about their company by going to https://www.matrixpmo.com/.

Shell Point reaches construction milestone on 44,000-square-foot arts center

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Jan. 16, 2020) – On Jan. 8, Shell Point Retirement Community held a “topping off” ceremony to mark the major construction milestone on the Tribby Arts Center, a two-level, 44,000-square-foot performing arts center dedicated to visual and performing arts as well as educational programming.

The celebration included more than 20 Shell Point residents along with members of Shell Point’s executive team. Each of the attendees signed the final steel beam that was hoisted into place to signify that the structure had reached its maximum height. Additionally, a guided tour through the semi-complete building offered Shell Point’s residents a chance to experience the new spaces firsthand. Representatives from the building contractor, Gates Construction, also joined in the celebration.

“Today marks a special day as we celebrate the tremendous progress that has been made on the Tribby Arts Center,” said Shell Point President Martin Schappell. “This is going to be a wonderful addition to the many amenities that we have at Shell Point. With all of the available arts programs, the 400-seat auditorium and more, the potential for this building is limitless.”

A catered lunch was provided for the Gates Construction team to thank them for their efforts.

“Gates Construction is doing a wonderful job,” said Adam Hinds, vice president of operations at Shell Point. “On average, there are 60 to 70 guys out here each day working hard through the heat, rain and all kinds of weather. Everyone is focused on the same goal as we look forward to the grand opening in fall 2020.”

When complete, the Tribby Arts Center will include a grand entrance and atrium gallery, full-time art gallery, practice rooms for musicians, dance and theatre arts studio, literary lounge and arts library, and numerous studios for painting, crafts, pottery, quilting, stained glass and photography, plus a 400-seat, tiered theatre.

Additionally, the art gallery and shop will display and sell residents’ artworks and host a wide variety of exhibitions, and the Collectors’ Gallery will rotate art from residents’ own collections. Bonus features include a gift shop featuring artists’ works, a French bistro and a sculpture garden that will surround the arts center offering delightful spots to relax, read, stroll, create and enjoy art and music.

The Tribby Arts Center will join the long list of lifestyle amenities at Shell Point, which includes a championship 18-hole golf course with an elegantly appointed clubhouse, free boat docks with deep-water access to the Gulf of Mexico, coastal-inspired restaurants, charming outdoor cafes, luxurious salon and spas, fitness centers, tennis and pickleball, and miles of scenic walking and bike trails. Shell Point Retirement Community is located along the Caloosahatchee River in Fort Myers, Florida, just two miles before Sanibel Island. A nationally recognized leader in the retirement industry, Shell Point is the largest single-site continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Florida and the second largest in the country with 2,500 residents and more than 1,200 employees. The seminar will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at Cypress Pharmacy, 9451 Cypress Lake Drive in Fort Myers. Headley’s program will highlight how diet, lifestyle changes, supplements and other practices can improve heart health.

As Cypress Pharmacy’s natural health consultant, Headley offers nutritional and lifestyle counseling, supplement recommendations, lab testing and educational seminars, emphasizing options for those with chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.

Cypress Pharmacy’s wellness program offers one-on-one consultations with Headley on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, or with a pharmacist on Mondays through Saturdays. Recommendations can include pharmaceutical-grade supplements in addition to dietary and lifestyle changes. Pharmacists may also examine current medications to assure the most effective therapy for the patient’s needs and to prevent duplicate therapies.

Headley is recognized as a leading authority in functional and natural wellness, which seeks to determine how and why diseases, illnesses and pain are occurring. “The millions of dollars we’ve raised over the years through our partnership with the Boston Red Sox organization have helped treat thousands of sick and injured children right here in Southwest Florida,” said Chris Simoneau, Lee Health’s chief foundation and development officer. “They were a significant supporter during the capital campaign that built Golisano Children’s Hospital. As we expand programs like Kids’ Minds Matter to meet the growing needs of our community and continue our mission to keep kids close to home, we remain incredibly grateful to be able to count on the generous support of the Red Sox each spring.”
Events include:

  • The Boston Red Sox “Tee” Party will be held Feb. 17 at the newly renovated The Forest Country Club and includes cocktails, food, entertainment, and silent and live auctions.
  • The Celebrity Golf Classic on Feb. 18 at The Forest Country Club will include lunch, on-course beverages, golfing and mingling with celebrities, and skills challenges.
  • The Dinner on the Diamond will be held March 19 at JetBlue Park, offering appetizers, drinks, dinner and a meet and greet with select Red Sox players for autographs and discussion.

Lani Kai Island Resort rolls out all-new limo service Continually updating

Continually updating and upgrading its grounds, venues and amenities, the Lani Kai is proud to announce its all-new limo service, an amenity available to guests of the iconic 42-year beachside establishment.
“I wanted to bring in something fun, something new for our fantastic hotel guests, and when that limo arrived for the first time, I thought, ‘Wow, they are going to love this,’” said hotel owner and builder Bob Conidaris.
Chances are you may have already seen the eye-catching 2019 Chrysler 300 stretch limo on the road, boasting vibrant palm leaves and Lani Kai lettering.
It’s offered to guests of the hotel for airport pick-ups and drop-offs at both Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) and Punta Gorda Airport (PGD), based on its scheduled availability, for just $50 to or from RSW, or $100 to or from PGD. As a comparison, an average taxi or ride-sharing service for just three or four people is around $50 from RSW, so this new guest amenity is not only a stylish way to arrive on Fort Myers Beach, it’s also an economical one.
Light refreshments are provided, and the car can comfortably fit up to 8 people and their luggage.
“It’s a beautiful car, and our guests have really been enjoying this special service so far. I’m so happy we could offer this new, affordable amenity for them,” Conidaris said.
