Painting Nocturnes   Satruday, April 1 

Nocturne painting typically implies painting outside at night, oh no!!
In this workshop you will paint beautiful nighttime scenes in the comfort
and safety of the Alliance classroom with amazing results. Learn the various
techniques that capture the essence of darkness and illumination of natural
and artificial light. Instruction using both acrylic and watercolor mediums
will be given. Oil painters are also welcome!

Beyond Basic: Intermediate Acrylic Painting   Thursdays, April 6-27 

If you’ve mastered the basics of painting with acrylics, and are ready to move on to the next
step then join Instructor/Artist Pat Smelkoff for this intermediate paining class. Pat will guide
you through the next steps in the painting process to begin creating your own masterpieces!

Fluid Art Series: It’s All About the Swipe! Swiping Techniques   April 6

Whether you are a beginner or advanced, these fluid art techniques will be fully explained,
demonstrated and you will go home with two completed pieces. Canvas sizes are your choice
between 12×12 and 16×16.   Bring a tray or box to take home your wet paintings. Recommended
paints, consistency of paint, color palette, pouring mediums and additives will be discussed.
Every student will leave with a handout to assist with your fluid art journey at home.

Neurographica (13+)   Thursday, April 6

Neurographica® is a method that enables you to change your perception of yourself and
your surroundings by using drawing techniques. It was developed in 2014 by Pavel Piskarev,
a Russian Psychologist. This 2 hour workshop introduces you to, and allows you to explore
the process.   Experience positive changes in your life through drawing, using the Neurographica®
method. This process provides a way to express your feelings and make your dreams a reality.

Fine Art Acrylics Plein Air Painting – Outside Class   Mondays, April 24-May 22

This outdoor, in-person plein air abstract landscape painting class invites nature to be your guide.
Learn to use landscapes or seascapes as the basis for an abstract painting. Your paintings won’t be
realistic but will still be identifiable, as opposed to typical abstract art where the subject matter is removed.

Fine Art Acrylics (18+)   Wednesdays, April 26-May 24

In this critique based class student’s artwork and ideas will be shared freely. Each class begins
and ends with a group critique session. In between group sessions students work at individual
stations at their own pace. Each student will receive one-on-one guidance from the instructor. 
Inspiration comes through sharing ideas, the stimulating critiques and challenging assignments.
Lecture/demos cover areas such as composition, form, color and contrast.

Pet Portraits   Wednesdays, April 12-May 17

This class is a great way to learn or improve drawing skills class will focus
on how to get the likeness of an animal, create texture for fur, and composition.
The class also includes how to take photos of your pets. Students are encouraged
to use any medium they want to create their own realistic pet portrait. We will also
go into pencil shading and how to draw with pen and ink.  

This class is designed for beginners AND advance students.

Step-by-Step Batik Sea Turtles 2   April 14

If you’re looking for an intriguing art experience, this is the class for you. Utilizing a
technique that originated in Indonesia called Batik, you will be working with multiple
templates on Ginwashi rice paper, using melted wax and watercolor to create a beautiful
painting that will boast a fabric-like finish.   Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist,
you will thoroughly enjoy this distinctive creative process, but do not hesitate to enroll.

This full-day class will close once a maximum of 6 people have signed up.

Wired Jewelry Making (15+)   April 29

Basic wire working for beginners- no experience necessary! We will be making jewelry using
basic wire working techniques. You will learn to make earrings, bracelets and necklaces using
wire and beads.

“Junk” Jewelry Making (15+)   April 22 

You will learn to create unusual pieces combining junk jewelry and new in collage style to make
earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Supplies will be provide but if you have orphan earrings or
broken jewelry that you’d like to incorporate into your special piece, feel free to bring!

Unleash your creativity and Learn Photoshop!   Learn the basics and explore ways you can use this
robust program. Start creating exciting images for your social media, your business marketing materials
or simply for your personal enjoyment. You will learn how to use the tools and how to employ them to
forward any project.

Belly Dance Bliss   Wednesdays, April 19-May 17 

Take your Belly Dance skills to the next level in this class designed for Continuing Beginners or
dancers with previous experience, with an emphasis on more intricate hip and body movements,
combinations and choreography. Students will explore different music and dance styles such as Egyptian
Raks Sharki, American Cabaret, Global Caravan Tribal, and Folklore with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean
Danse Orientale Award recipient Sherry Coffey!  

New Beginners are encouraged to enroll in the 7:30 p.m. class this series.

Beginning Belly Dance   Wednesdays, April 19-May 17

Have fun learning the ancient art and modern styles of this dynamic dance! Belly Dancing is a
naturally low impact activity that improves posture, core strength, flexibility and the mind-body
connection. Adults will learn the basic moves, steps and rhythms that are applicable to either
traditional or tribal styles of Belly Dance in this course with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean
Danse Orientale Award recipient Sherry Coffey!

Manga & Pizza (Ages 12-18)   Thursday, April 20 
Join us for a Manga/cartoon drawing workshop- perfect for all levels! We’ll provide the pizza,
popcorn and drinks while popular Instructor Terry Lynn Spry focuses on creativity and drawing
for those that are interested in Manga/Cartoon. Lessons will vary on proportions of form,
perspective and composition in a fun and relaxed environment.

Tierra & Friends-World Music and Movement   April 4 

Tierra & Friends is a world music organization for children and families! We strive to provide
high-quality musical experiences for all. Our organization began in 2017, and since then, we have
worked with thousands of children in NYC, Miami, and Southwest Florida. Through our world
music and movement programs for schools, children learn about diversity, the basics of music theory,
music appreciation, and so much more!  

This class has two aged based groups for 0-3 and 4-6.

Summer Break Arts Camp   June 19-August 4th

Fill your child’s summer with an exhilarating array of artistic activities! Don’t miss out on the
unique opportunity to experience, explore and engage with multiple visual arts.   Kids will love
creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces, playing games, exploring our galleries and so much more –
all taught and led by our team of experienced artists and educators.   Open to those children grades 1-6.
Each camp session consists of two immersive weeks of the best summer visual arts camp in southwest Florida.

Free Family ArtLab   Saturday, April 15

Make creativity part of your family routine the 3rd Saturday of each month during Family Art Lab!
Drop in for free, hands-on family fun from 10 a.m. to noon. Explore something new every month like
art making, gallery activities, games and more – all inspired by artworks on view in the gallery, famous
artists, national holidays and artistic traditions around the world.

The Future of Art: 31st LAEA Student Exhibit   In the Gallery April 5-29

Our walls are doused in student imagination and talent this month. This is the 31st year the Alliance
has partnered with Lee Arts Educators Association (LAEA) and the show features artwork from
Lee County elementary, middle and high schools with hundreds of works in a variety of mediums.  
The show features more than 40 schools and hundreds of works in a variety of mediums. Winners will
be selected in several categories and the Best in Show will be awarded.  

This exhibition will be divided into two, two-week sessions.  

Elementary & Middle School: on Display April 5-14 •

Opening Reception: Wednesday April 5, 5-7:00 p.m.
 

High School: on Display April 20-29 •

Opening Reception: Thursday April 20, 5-7:00 p.m.
 

Both receptions are free and open to the public.

The High School opening reception will feature pizza provided by Downtown House of Pizza (DHOP).
