February seems to have just March-ed on by us, so we’re springing into a new season!  

The 38th Annual All Florida Juried Exhibition opens March 1, marking our longest
running exhibition. Come see the 56 chosen pieces, on display through March 29.  

Catch the last two outdoor concerts of the season: March 3 featuring the Penny Creek
Band or March 17 for the ACMA Songwriters in the Round.  

Don’t forget to sign your kiddos up for our popular Spring Break Arts Camp, March 18-22.  

Finally, tie up the month with the first ever Nude Nocturne. March 30 is sure to be an
alluring evening you won’t want to miss.

38th Annual All Florida Exhibition  
In the Gallery March 1-30 Opening Reception: March 1, 5-7pm
This event is open to the public. Come meet your neighbors and enjoy beverages
and light refreshments from Jayne Baker at this event!  

This annual show is the most anticipated of the year. As the name suggests, this
exhibition features pieces created by artists working in a wide variety of media
from all over the 65,000 square miles that make up Florida. The juried entries
come together for an award-winning and exciting exhibition representing today’s
contemporary Florida artists.

Theatre Gallery: How Do I Know You? by Pam Lowe

Pam has worked in textiles and improvisational quilt-making since college, and
throughout her public health nursing career. Since relocating to southwest Florida
in 2014, she has been painting using watercolor, acrylics and mixed media as well
as building a body of work in printmaking.  

Members Gallery Artist: Member’s Photography Club  

Our Member’s Only Photography Club is a monthly meeting hosted by local
photographer Duncan Metts. This exhibition will feature the printed works of
the club participants.

StoryCorps at the Alliance  

Now – March 15 • StoryCorps is committed to the idea that everyone has an important
story to tell and that everyone’s story matters. Their mission: to help us believe in each
other by illuminating the humanity and possibility in us all — one story at a time.   

The famous StoryCorps Airstream will be parked on campus through March 15, with
both in-person and virtual recording session options. Sign up with someone you’re
close to to deepen your relationship or for the new One Small Step option to discuss
your beliefs and values with someone you do not know. All sessions are one-hour and
will be submitted to the U.S. Library of Congress and in StoryCorps online archive.

Through the Decades Spring Concert  

March 2, 5:30-10:00 pm • Get Ready to groove Studio 54 style! Join us for an
unforgettable night of live funky and disco tunes with The Collaboration Band
featuring Larry D and Rashima.   This event is proudly sponsored by Dorcey
Law Firm and hosted by The Rotary Club of Fort Myers at the Alliance for the
Arts. Don’t miss this night filled with incredible music and community spirit.

Outdoor Bluegrass Concert featuring the Penny Creek Band  

Sunday, March 3, 3-5:00 pm • The Penny Creek Band is a contemporary bluegrass
band formed in 2005 and based out of Melbourne, Florida. They are a unique group
of musicians that produce heart-felt, hard driving bluegrass music with tons of variety
that keeps their audiences on the edge of their seats. Combining traditional bluegrass,
vintage country, fresh original material, tons of energy and excitement, Penny Creek
provides an abundance of entertainment value and has earned a reputation as a crowd
favorite.  

Pre-sale seating is limited to 132 and is first come, first serve. In the case of bad
weather, the show will be moved indoors to the Fould’s Theatre. Additional tickets
may be available at the door, weather permitting.

StoryCorps Community Listening Event  

Thursday, March 7, 5:30-7:00 pm • You’re invited to join the StoryCorps team in
collaboration with WGCU at a free listening event hosted by Alliance for the Arts.
You’ll have the opportunity to listen to some of the stories we recorded together in
Fort Myers, Florida this year, learn more about the Mobile Tour, and meet the team
behind it.  

Come and celebrate the stories of Fort Myers by listening to stories from your friends
and neighbors.  

This event is free for everyone but registration is limited to 132.

Meet the Author: Stephen McGuire  

Friday, March 8, 5-7:30 pm • Stephen McGuire, retired Chief Judge, Federal Trade
Commission, and now an author has published three political thrillers, Prior Restraint,
Fractured Power and recently, Secret Deceit, is bringing his Washington insider’s per-
spective to the Fould’s Stage. Although his books are fiction, many readers have com-
mented that the storylines seem so real. Could they be? In this event, Steve will talk
about his experience as a judge, transition to author and how he develops his storyline
and characters.  

This event is free for Alliance members and $10 for non-members.

Wednesday Night Market  

Wednesday, March 13, 5-8:00 pm • Join us under the stars every second Wednesday
of the month from 5 pm to 8 pm for our pop-up Night Market. We feature a selection
of art, live music, food trucks and beer and wine.  

There will be a free family art activity hosted by our own Youth Education Coordinator,
Minna Maillakakis.

Open Mic at Wednesday Night Market  

Wednesday, March 13, 5-8:00 pm • Join us for Open Mic at the Night Market,
celebrating local musicians. Enjoy live performances in a vibrant atmosphere.
Register online to participate. Basic sound system provided. Limited to one song
or 5 minutes per performer. Spread the word and join us for an evening of talent
and community spirit!

ACMA Presents Songwriters in the Round  

Sunday, March 17, 5-9:00 pm • Our final ACMA Alliance show of the season
will feature Charlie McCoy, Roy Schneider and Kim Mayfield as Songwriters
in the Round.  

Charlie McCoy has been a mainstay in Music City (Nashville) since the ’60s,
Charlie has played on dozens of hit records, including work with such legends
as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Simon and Garfunkel, George
Jones, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and many more.  

Reckless Saints founder Roy Schneider & Kim Mayfield are the core duo and
songwriters of Reckless Saints. Partners in music and love since 2003, they
began recording and touring five years later. The duo spent over a decade touring
and recording five CDs of original music under their solo names before officially
adopting Reckless Saints as their band name.

Battleground– A Film Screening  

Wednesday, March 20, 6:00-9:00 pm • In the wake of Roe, 26 states stand poised to
ban abortion, catalyzing unprecedented legal, medical and social upheaval. ‘Battle-
ground’ is required viewing for anyone with a stake in the future of abortion in America.  

Join fellow film lovers for the exclusive screening of Battleground, part of the Southern
Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers in our Art House Cinema. Hang out after the
screening for an intimate Q&A session with one of the directors/producers of the film
and a surprise moderator from WGCU! Tickets are available on Eventbrite and $10 for
Alliance members and $12 for non-members.

Nude Nocturne
 
Saturday, March 30, 6:00-10:00 pm • Join us for an evening that celebrates the
human body in all shapes and sizes. The night will feature three tantalizing burlesque
performances, a tempting array of cocktails (and mocktails) poured by Nice Guys Pizza,
two live DJs, a gallery display of larger-than-life artwork from Francesco Gillia, live model
drawing, aerialists and more!  

This evening is for those 18+ only.

Saturday, March 16 • Make creativity part of your family routine the 3rd Saturday of
each month during Family ArtLab! Drop in for free, hands-on family fun from 10 a.m.
to noon. Explore something new every month like art making, gallery activities, games
and more – all inspired by artworks on view in the gallery, famous artists, national
holidays and artistic traditions around the world.  

All ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Family ArtLabs are free and open
to the public, but a $10 suggested family donation keeps programming affordable and
accessible.

Registration Open Now for Our Spring Break Arts Camp  

March 18-22, 2024 •Welcome to our Spring Break Art Retreat Camp designed just for your little
creatives! This camp offers a variety of activities for kids ages 7-11, our mornings will sparkle with
art journaling and meditation for focus and revitalization. Children will unveil hidden talents in the
afternoons with the rhythm of music and creative expression. Conveniently scheduled March 18-22,
during spring break for Lee County Schools, we invite campers to explore the boundless realms of
their imagination through self expression and self awareness.  

Register online to embark on a journey of colorful self-discovery. Sign up for 1 or 2 days, or the full
week. Extended care available for before care and afternoon care.  

Camp hours are 9:00AM – 4:00PM. Before and aftercare are available.
