Executive Director Job Description
The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of overseeing the Literacy Council Gulf Coast Inc. (LCGC) which includes, but not limited to, the Corporate Administrative Office, Programs Administration, Finance and Tutor Volunteer Management.

Headquartered in Bonita Springs, the LCGC maintains a strong presence throughout Southwest Florida. The Executive Director is also responsible for overseeing the organizations sub-contract services, along with campus and facilities management. The incumbent will also provide leadership to a functional team; manage fundraising, grant applications and is responsible for all compliance, supporting a large operational budget. The incumbent will leverage resources and continue development of a strategic plan with board support to maintain and grow annual our signature fundraising event. The incumbent will also seek other innovative fundraising and revenue growth opportunities to continue to diversify funding.

Working closely with the functional team and the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will lead community engagement, communications, and build both internal and external relations with community partners to further strengthen the position of the LCGC in becoming a community leader in driving funding, gifts, and volunteer activation. The incumbent will also be responsible for board development, staff development and empowerment of clients and volunteers all while supporting the key mission of the organization “to assist adults and children to acquire the English literacy skills and education necessary to improve their quality of life and enhance the entire community.”

Major Task, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Assess, design, and successfully execute growth strategies for Literacy Council Gulf Coast Inc., establishing the organization as a leader in values-based community activation and support for key programs.

Develop, monitor and amend annual budget for review and approval by the Board of Directors; provide sound fiscal management through budgetary control and categories.

Serve as the organization’s lead liaison to core funders and key business partners – to drive funding and demonstrate effective and innovative use of allocated resources while ensuring quality and efficient programs and services are being provided.

Lead ongoing analysis, evaluation and formal annual auditing process of programs, volunteer involvement, services, and facilities to ensure we are meeting generally accepted standards of non-profit performance.

Seek out and collaborate closely with relevant partner agencies and programs to better align services to clients to broaden impact and reputation development. Strong focus on driving diversity, inclusion, employment marketing, and managing media communications to strengthen and highlight the organizations values.

Serve as the lead contact for LCGC, Board of Directors, setting agendas for and leading each board’s regular meetings and effectively manage all aspects of Grants, Contracts, and Donations. Working with the officers of the Board of Directors to maintain a focus on board development and expansion of programs.

INTERNAL USE

Serve as the core internal champion for our community efforts, primarily through strong community ties, engagement, and support.
Nature and Scope
Position reports to the Board President, Board’s Executive Committee and General Board. The position is highly self-directed and allows for broad discretion in how to best organize daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cadences for workflow. This position oversees both paid and volunteer staff and engagement, empowerment and recognition is a key driver of success.
Salaried Exempt – Non-Contract with a Management Incentive Plan for reaching or exceeding mutually agreed upon performance and value based targets set by the board and strategic plan alignment.

Environmental Job Requirements
Offices located in a comfortable indoor area. Some of the activities are outside the office in engaging and busy areas, and will require a focus on safety, the ability to be flexible, to lift occasionally and you may be working for short periods in warm, dusty, and loud conditions. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. You must be able to adhere to all safety, health, and regulatory conditions required by governing authorities on within sites we use that are in the control of other organizations.
Minimum Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older

Must pass a level II Background/MVR Check

Must pass pre-employment testing if applicable

Education Required – The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a minimum of a bachelor’s degree program or the equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience – 5

Years of Management/Supervisory Experience – 3

Certificates/Licenses – N/A

Physical Job Requirements – Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On some occasions there may be a need to move or lift items over 20lbs.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing programs in a non-profit setting

Familiarity with services and programs surrounding early childhood, adolescent, and adult education.

Familiarity with Community Support Services, Family Resources, and Early Learning Coalition, and strong relationships with public and private education entities

Experience managing teams in a fast-paced and fluid work environment

Excellent communications and interpersonal skills

Experience or familiarity with non-profit management, volunteer activation and/or charitable giving

Highly focused on volunteer satisfaction and quality execution of programs using a volunteer base
