Summer Camps
June 20 to June 24
June 27 – July 1
Music & Arts Community Center

This June the Gulf Coast Symphony is offering unique summer camp experiences for students grades 2 to 12, with opportunities for campers to learn or expand their abilities with orchestra instruments, perform in small jazz ensembles with members of the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective, or perform in a production of FROZEN, Jr.

Camp is $150 per work (scholarships available) and includes BREAKFAST & LUNCH. There are no additional fees or registration costs.

There are five programs offered: Music Works!, as string program for beginners, Middle School Youth Orchestra, High School Chamber Ensembles, Jazz and Musical Theater. Students will be placed according to their grade level and the years of experience they have. However, NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY to participate in a Gulf Coast Symphony camp. Students with more experience may be placed at a higher grade level. All students will work with professional instructors, who are either members of the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective, the Gulf Coast Chamber Orchestra, or the Gulf Coast Symphony’s Musical theater staff and other guest professional instructors.

Music Works! is for children grades 2-6 with little to no experience on a stringed instrument. Students will explore music by participating in fun engaging music classes. Children will be provided with violins and learn to play!

Our Youth Orchestra program is designed for music students who have between one to four years of experience and are in grades 4 to 8, and who can read music. Students will expand their performance technique, music reading, and rehearse and perform as an orchestra.

Chamber Ensembles camp is for more advanced students who play at a high school level. Students will work on advanced techniques, sound quality, vibrato, and perform more challenging pieces of music.

Jazz camp is for students in grades 8-12 who play at a high school level. Students will develop jazz skills through individual coaching, ensemble performances, and masterclasses . At the end of week 2, students will perform for parents and fellow campers!
(Enrollment in BOTH Sessions I+II is required)

Our Musical Theater camp is for students in grades 6-12. Students will develop in all areas of music theater including singing techniques, choreography, rehearsal terminology, and acting. At the end of week 2, all students will perform in a full production of Frozen Jr!
