Media Perspectives: The Future is Cloudy Bentley Village September 12 at 10 – 11:30am, Thursday Speaker: John Lack This lecture traces the evolution of media from its earli- est incarnations (print) to its latest iteration (social media), from its hierarchical beginnings to the proliferation of con- sumer generated content, and how and why the media has lost much of its credibility. Join this fascinating review of the history of the media and a look at its current incarna- tions. The Road to Disunion: The Roots of the American Civil War Moorings Park Grande Lake September 13 at 1:30 – 3:00pm, Friday Speaker: Steve Valdespino This lecture offers a chronological examination of the issues and events leading to the greatest military conflict this hemi- sphere has ever experienced. The War Between the States. We begin with a discussion of the Land Ordinance of 1787 and end with the firing on Ft. Sumter. This program is replete with fascinating history and personalities and may be disturb- ingly relevant to events of today.
