Greetings, The Academy Needs Your Support Today to Ensure that Our Critical Mission of Adult Education and Enrichment Continues! Academy programs emphasize the joy of learning by highlighting the personal fulfillment, intellectual stimulation, and sense of achievement that comes from sharing knowledge, discussing important ideas and learning new things. They promote social engagement and provide opportunities for building connections, friendships, and a sense of belonging within a community. Finally, the Academy can be a part of an active and fulfilling retirement. Our programs promote mental acuity, physical well-being, and a vibrant lifestyle. Academy participants seek knowledge, inspiration, creativity and good health. Since we are a non-credit programmatic offering, Florida Gulf Coast University can provide $0.00 of support to the Academy. We must be financially self-sustaining. The fact is that the revenue generated through memberships and program fees provides for only 50% of our annual operating costs. Additionally, our attendance has not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels, so revenue is much lower than in the past. Our passion keeps us moving forward and your donations will do the same. Located at the south-eastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula, Oman has been closed for centuries to the outside world. Even today it is captivating and mysterious while at the same time having a progressive and stable government. A blend of the old and the new, Oman combines traditional Arabic styles and customs with ancient fortifications and architectural treasures that set it apart from many other oil-rich modern countries in the Middle East. In this presentation, we review the state and local offices and candidates that will be on the ballot for Collier County voters and give you a jump-start for being a more informed voter.  Woodstock Memories March 27 | 1:30- 3 pm Wednesday Naples Center / Online via Zoom What drew a half million people together in 1969 for three days of peace and music? August 2019 was the 50th Anniversary of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair. This historical musical presentation explains the political, social and cultural events that led up to the festival and why it will likely never happen again. The instructor attend- ed the festival in 1969 and shares her personal memories mixed with her historian’s perspective in a multimedia presentation. Hippie attire is welcome.
