English Chamber Orchestra Cancels Fort Myers Performance;

The New York Classical Players to Appear Instead

FORT MYERS, FLA., February 20, 2023 – The English Chamber Orchestra has canceled its American tour, including a March 9 performance at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall, due to the orchestra’s inability to obtain travel visas.

The Fort Myers Community Concert Association, which hosts the concert season, has reacted quickly and obtained The New York Classical Players to perform instead on the same date.

“We are disappointed that the English Chamber Orchestra won’t be joining us due to travel difficulties, but we’re happy that The New York Classical Players can perform on the same date instead,” said Community Concert Association President Mary Lee Mann.

Ticket holders can use the same tickets for the March 9 performance at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall.  Additional tickets can be purchased at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall box office at 239-481-4849 or online at www.bbmannpah.com. Prices are $55 for orchestra and mezzanine seats, $35 for lower balcony seats and $25 for upper balcony seats.  The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

The New York Classical Players is a 25-piece chamber orchestra founded in New York in 2010. The chamber orchestra is comprised of dynamic young musicians who are launching their professional careers.  Graduates of some of the world’s leading conservatories come together as The New York Classical Players to share performances of familiar masterpieces, bold new commissions and unexpected musical treasures with the public.  The orchestra is under the direction of Founder and Music Director Dongmin Kim and a committed board of directors guides and supports the non-profit organization.

The Fort Myers Community Concert Association, now in its 73rd concert season, is an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization founded by the legendary Barbara B. Mann in 1949 to bring world-class entertainment to Southwest Florida at affordable prices.  The association consists of more than 1,200 members, underwriters and sponsors.  Performers brought to Fort Myers in the past by the association include The Israel Ballet, The Boston Brass, Violin Virtuoso Itzhak Perlman, Cleveland Orchestra, Vienna Boys Choir, Pianist Andre Watts, Violinist Joshua Bell with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and many others.
