![]() Get inspired this summer! The Alliance has something for everybody. Here’s a collection of upcoming exhibitions and exciting opportunities for local artists! Upcoming Exhibition: Into the Green: Botanical Insights by Susan Martin ![]() Opening Reception August 4, 5-7pm • On display August 4-26 • Susan Martin has been fascinated by the visual richness of the botanical world since childhood. Her Botanica Series reflects this consuming interest in the variety of colors, shapes, and lines found in nature. Strong light reveals intriguing forms and textures. From the mass of plant life, Martin carves out tightly cropped compositions, eliminating unessential elements and paring down the painting subject to what first attracted her. In the Theatre Lobby: “The First Theatre Production” by Jade Griffin Storm Stories: A Juried Exhibition, Submissions due August 7 ![]() We believe in the healing power of art. In the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, we have seen a great need for healing in our community. We are asking artists to create artwork about their experiences during or after the storm in any capacity. It may be stories of resilience or trauma or loss. It can evoke a wide range of emotions. It is meant to be cathartic and therapeutic and shareable, something everyone can relate to in some way. Artists may submit 1 – 3 pieces for consideration for this exhibition. There is no entry fee. We encourage artists to submit 2D and 3D artwork using found objects and recycled materials collected after Hurricane Ian. Alternatively, we ask artists to submit artwork expressing their experiences during and after Hurricane Ian. All media will be accepted, such as paint, collage, photo, drawing, print, etc. Only original artwork will be accepted. No giclée. All entries must be submitted online no later than August 7 at 5pm. Exhibition will display September 1-30, 2023. Artworks will feature traditional media such as painting and drawing but alternative approaches to mixed media or fiber arts are also encouraged. Artwork will be on disply at RSW from September 2023-February 2024. Submissions close August 21, 2023. Alliance for the Arts Members should use code Member10 to recieve $10 off the entry fee.
