The Alliance has something for everybody. Here’s a collection of upcoming exhibitions and
exciting opportunities for local artists!

Upcoming Exhibition: Storm Stories Juried Exhibition

Soft opening reception: September 1, 5-7pm, this free event will include light refreshments

Closing reception: September 28, 5-7pm, this free event will include light bites and refreshments

Our September Gallery is a year in the making. This Juried Exhibition is in conjunction with
the oral history project, Storm Stories. We created this project in the wake of Hurricane Ian.
We saw a great need for healing in our community after the devastating storm. By collecting
stories of people’s experiences during the storm and by asking local artists to use their experiences
to create art, we hope to help our community find beauty and begin the process of healing.

Call for Submissions: Art in Flight

Deadline extended! Submissions due September 4!

We live in a rapidly changing world, from technology to our physical environments, it can feel
daunting to try to keep up. For this exhibition, we ask artists to meditate on themes of change
through a hopeful lens. Artists are asked to create work that explores ideas of growth, progress,
and resilience. Artworks can represent the artist’s personal self-growth or images that relate to
growth they see in the world around them. Artworks will feature traditional media such as painting
and drawing but alternative approaches to mixed media or fiber arts are also encouraged.

Artwork will be on disply at RSW from September 2023-February 2024.

Alliance for the Arts Members should use code Member10 to recieve $10 off the entry fee.

Display Your Art at Blinking Owl Books

We are looking for several artists to display art at Blinking Owl Books’ new location as part of a new
partnership between BOB and the Alliance.

They are looking for eclectic and unique artwork to decorate their walls. The work will be on display
for 3-4 months inside the bookstore.

The work must be for sale. Sales will be processed through the Alliance for the Arts and will be subject
to our standard 40% commission with 60% of the sale price going to the artist. If a piece sells, artists will
be invited to replace it with another piece. Email [email protected] if you are interested in participating.

Be a Featured Artist at our Monthly Night Market

We are looking for artists to display and sell their work at our Wednesday Night Markets. This opportunity
is open only to current Alliance for the Arts members.

The Night Market occurs on the second Wednesday of every month. Up to three artists may be chosen each
month. There is no cost to be a featured artist, this is a perk of membership. The standard 60/40 commission
split will apply to any artwork sales during the event, with artists receiving 60%.

Email Emily at [email protected] with any questions.

Artwork Needed for Evans Health Care

The Alliance for the Arts is beginning a new community partnership with Evans Health Care,
a senior living facility in Fort Myers.

The artwork inside Evans Health Care is all reproduction artwork that has faded to colorless grays.
The art has not been updated since the building opened in 1984. Fortunately, the frames and mats are
of high quality. The Alliance for the Arts aims to improve the artistic atmosphere in Evans Health Care
by commissioning artists to replace these faded reproductions with colorful, original works on paper.
The old frames will be taken down, opened, and the artwork replaced and rehung by an Alliance volunteer.

We invite our community of artists to share original works of art on paper to refresh the hallways at Evans
Health Care and give the residents and staff hope, encouragement, and a happy injection of color. Each artist
will be paid a $50 commission for a completed piece. Email [email protected] to get involved.
