NAPLES, Fla. – April 11, 2018 – Hodges University is pleased to announce it has completed negotiations to lease additional space within the university’s Gaynor Building on the Naples campus.
In February 2017, Hodges University agreed to lease the Gaynor Building to Montessori Academy of Naples (MAN), which occupies the building’s first floor which fronts the quadrangle greenspace used by its students for outdoor play and other activities. Beginning in fall 2018, MAN will have relocated completely to this location from space it had occupied elsewhere.
As of April 2018, MAN made the decision to lease the entire building from Hodges and sublease the second floor to Naples Christian Academy (NCA) beginning July 2018 as an interim location until NCA can secure and build its permanent campus.
Phillip A. Tingle, NCA’s Headmaster, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “These beautiful facilities, conveniently located for access from both Naples and south Lee County, provide the opportunity for Naples Christian Academy to expand our ministry in partnering with Christian families to provide both outstanding academics and a biblically integrated curriculum.”
The location will provide a new home for NCA who will also occupy state-of-the-art facilities across the parking lot in Northbrooke Plaza. Northbrooke will house the preschool, kindergarten and first grade classes.

MARCH 28, 2018 – FORT MYERS, FLA. – For the 23rd consecutive year, 100 percent of Florida SouthWestern State College’s (FSW) Dental Hygiene Program graduates have passed the National Board Dental Hygiene Exam (NBDHE).

FSW’s Dental Hygiene program accepts 18 students per year, and students take the NBDHE in March while enrolled in their last academic semester at FSW.

“The NBDHE consists of 350 questions to include general education, program specific general education and dental hygiene core courses,” said Karen Molumby, FSW Dental Hygiene Program Director. “FSW’s dental hygiene curriculum prepares students to apply critical thinking and evidence-based care through the application of rigorous didactic examinations, laboratory competencies and clinical performance evaluations. Because of their diligence and hard work, 100 percent of the dental hygiene class of 2018 has once again passed the NBDHE.”

“We are extremely proud at the continued success of our dental hygiene students,” said Dr. Marie Collins, dean, FSW School of Health Professions. “It is through the exceptional instruction provided by our faculty and staff, that our students continue to achieve this amazing feat and a one-of-a-kind, national accomplishment.”

Event to shine light on Hope Clubhouse employment program

FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 9, 2018) – Hope springs from opportunity. Hope Clubhouse is excited to showcase its new work placement initiative for people who’ve faced a mental illness at its Annual Mental Health Luncheon, scheduled for 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29 at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater on 1380 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.

Attorney Kelly L. Fayer of The Law Offices of Kelly L. Fayer, P.A. will serve as event chair and state Rep. Heather Fitzenhagen will be the honorary chair for the luncheon, which will have the theme of “Faces of Hope at Work.” It’s designed to spotlight the organization’s job placement efforts through the new Hope Works LLC, which connects employers to Hope Clubhouse members, who in turn provide dedicated, reliable and immediate work.

“What’s nice about this is it’s a win-win, because the employer can have a person who really cares and wants to do a great job,” Fitzenhagen said. “They can benefit because the Hope Clubhouse member is going to do a job that someone else might not want to do, and do it well, and with a great deal of pride.”

Fitzenhagen was motivated to get involved after hearing attorney Sawyer Smith’s eloquent speech at the luncheon last year, when he revealed his struggle with mental illness.

“Positive mental health is the gateway to positive community,” Fitzenhagen said.

Fayer has been involved on the luncheon’s host committee and as a sponsor for years, and she can provide personal testimony for Hope Clubhouse job placement services, having previously hired Hope Clubhouse members to work in her law office.

“These are people who understand the value of a job, and they work harder as a result of it,” Fayer said. “I’m excited for the community to see just what they can do.”

Luncheon sponsorship packages are available. Event proceeds benefit the programs and services at Hope Clubhouse. Call 239-900-4200 for more information.
