FSW Collegiate High School-Lee Graduates Earn Over $7M in Scholarships

June 7, 2018 – Fort Myers, FLA – The Class of 2018 at Florida SouthWestern Collegiate High School – Lee, collectively earned over $7.1M in scholarships. Additionally, over 70 percent of the graduates had already earned their Associate in Arts degree from Florida SouthWestern State College during commencement on May 4.
 
“We emphasize STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) in an independent learning process for our students,” said Dr. Brian Botts, Principal, Florida SouthWestern Collegiate High School – Lee. “Those skills are especially beneficial for their junior and senior years, when they are full-time college students at FSW.”
 
Of the 86 graduates, 62 earned their Associate in Arts degree from FSW on May 4 before receiving their high school diploma during their commencement at Suncoast Credit Union Arena at FSW on May 5.
Some of the universities and colleges these graduates will be attending include University of Florida, Florida State University, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, Stetson University, Florida Southern College, Embry-Riddle University, Florida Polytechnic University, FGCU and FSW.
 
FSWC-Lee provides a dynamic STEM focused learning environment that is dedicated to creating and sustaining the independent learning process with a focus on helping students construct knowledge through projects, hands on activities, and academic debate/discussion. Pavese Law Firm partners earn The Florida Bar Board Certification in Condominium and Planned Development Law

FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 7, 2018) – Four partners with Pavese Law Firm in Fort Myers, Christopher Shields, Steven Hartsell, Charles Mann, and Charles Capps, were recognized by The Florida Bar with Board Certification in Condominium and Planned Development Law. Florida Bar Board Certification requires a rigorous application process and examination, and is the highest level of evaluation by The Florida Bar for the skills, special knowledge, proficiency, professionalism and ethics in condominium and planned development law.
In addition to being Florida Bar Board Certified in Condominium and Planned Development Law, Shields, Mann and Capps are also Florida Bar Board Certified Real Estate attorneys. They are three of only 21 attorneys in Florida to hold this dual distinction.
“Condominium and planned development law” is the practice of law in which an attorney serves as counsel to community associations, developers, property owners and investors; drafts governing documents and prepares planned development documents; collects past-due assessments; represents associations and developers in litigation, arbitration and mediation matters; and assists in the planning, development, construction and financing of condominium or other planned development communities. Shields specializes in subdivision, master-planned residential, commercial and mixed-use communities, and provides legal counsel to developers, builders, community associations and lenders. He joined Pavese Law Firm in 1984 and became a partner in 1990.
Hartsell, who joined Pavese Law Firm in 1986 and was named a partner in 1990, concentrates his practice on zoning, land use and development law, and often represents clients in administrative matters that come before city and county governing boards.
Mann focuses his practice on land use and development law, real estate law and association law, often representing builders and developers in the acquisition and financing of land. He joined Pavese Law Firm in 2000, became a partner in 2005 and was named managing partner in 2012.
Capps joined Pavese Law Firm in 2008 and became a partner in 2014, and his primary areas of focus include commercial and residential transactions, title insurance, real estate development law, condominium and homeowner association law, banking and finance.

(June 7, 2018) – Priority Marketing was recently honored for excellence in video production earning a Telly Award in the category of “Non-Broadcast – Fund Raising.” To increase awareness about the need for pediatric mental and behavioral health care and to reach SWFL Children’s Charities’ monetary goal to support the initiative, Priority Marketing produced a captivating video that aired before 350 guests during the 2017 Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest.
 
The award-winning video was played during the fund-a-need portion of the live auction and featured alarming statistics on the numbers of youth diagnosed with mental illnesses and the heart-wrenching testimony of a local mother who lost her teenage son to suicide. Deeply moved, attendees raised their bid paddles bringing in $1 million towards funding for a comprehensive pediatric mental health care program in Southwest Florida.

The event is free and open to the public. Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce to install 2018-2019 Board of Directors at June 21 luncheon

FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 5, 2018) – The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce invites the community to join its June General Membership Meeting for the installation of its 2018-2019 Board of Directors and officers.
The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 21 at the Crowne Plaza Fort Myers, 13051 Bell Tower Drive next to the Bell Tower Shops in Fort Myers.
During the event, board members and officers will be appointed for both the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which works to support the Chamber’s efforts to enhance education in Southwest Florida.
The Chamber will also recognize outgoing board chairs, Dan Adams for the Chamber and Dean Piccirillo for the Foundation, board members and volunteer committee chairpersons for their year of service. Awards will also be presented to name the Volunteer of the Year and Ambassador of the Year.

FSW College High School-Charlotte Graduates Earn Over $2M in Scholarships

June 4, 2018 – Punta Gorda, FLA – For over 70 percent of the graduates of Florida SouthWestern College High School – Charlotte, that stroll across the stage on May 18 wasn’t their first. When they crossed the stage in the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center, 57 of the 79 graduates had already participated in Florida SouthWestern State College’s commencement ceremony on May 4 for their Associate in Arts degree.
 
“Part of our mission is to provide that path for our students to simultaneously earn a two-year college degree, and their high school diploma,” said Matthew Cantazarite, Principal, FSW Collegiate High School – Charlotte. “By earning their AA degree at FSW, our students have a head start in completing a bachelor’s degree.”
 
The Class of 2018 also collectively earned over $2.3M in scholarships to continue their education. Some of the universities that these students are attending include: University of South Florida, FSW, FGCU, University of Florida, Florida State University, University of Central Florida, Florida Atlantic University, Unity College, University of Tampa, University of Pittsburgh and Ringling School of Art and Design.
