IMMOKALEE, Fla. (February 18, 2019) – Country music singer Jordan Davis will headline the upcoming Seminole Shootout, March 1-3, in Immokalee, Florida, presented by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
The Louisiana native will take the stage at the John Jimmie Memorial Arena on Saturday, March 2, at 7 p.m.
Davis is currently touring with Old Dominion in support of his debut album – Home State. The album has produced two hit singles – the number one Platinum hit “Singles You Up” as well as “Take It from Me,” which just cracked the Top 5 at country radio. He was named Billboard’s Top New Country Artist of 2018 in addition to Country Aircheck/Mediabase’s Most Heard New Artist of 2018.
Writing and playing music was a passion passed down in the Davis household. His uncle, Stan Paul Davis, wrote two Top 5 titles for Tracy Lawrence in the 1990’s – “Today’s Lonely Fool” and “Better Man, Better Off” – while his brother, Jacob, is also a country singer.
Davis will be among a group of musicians scheduled to perform throughout the event weekend. Friday’s performers will be Kompleto (5:30 p.m.) and One Night Rodeo (7 p.m.).
Saturday’s featured acts will include a special performance at noon by Native American Hip Hop artist and motivational speaker Supaman. (https://supamanhiphop.com/). The Hatley Band (4:30 p.m.) and Baja Zero (5:30 p.m.) will precede the Davis show.
On Sunday, the Hatley Band (2:30 p.m.) and Baja Zero (5:30 p.m.) return to perform along with Invanzion 360 (4 p.m.). In addition to the music entertainment, Seminole Shootout Battle Reenactments will also be spotlighted over the three days. Reenactment events are slated for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. Friday is reserved for students and admission is free with advanced reservations.
The Seminole Shootout was first performed in the late 1990’s and brings together reenactors in soldier and warrior attire with authentic weapons and tactics, plus pyrotechnics to simulate cannon blasts. They reenact a typical battle from the Second Seminole War, which ranged from 1835 through 1842 and is the longest and costliest Indian conflict in U.S. history.
This is the second year it will be held on the Immokalee Seminole Reservation. All events will be held at the John Jimmie Memorial Arena and the Immokalee Youth Camp, 1195 East Main Street, Immokalee, adjacent to the Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee.
In addition, the event will include alligator wrestling, craft and food vendors, historical and cultural displays, as well as Seminole and soldier camps.
Combo tickets, including the Saturday battle reenactments, concert and all other activities, are $30 and available on line at www.seminoleshootout.com. Tickets may also be purchased for just the reenactments at a cost of $10/$8/$6.
Tickets for the Saturday concert are $25 and tent camping is available for $15 per night on Friday and Saturday. Preferred parking is $5.

She is the author of many books including the best-selling In Every Pew Sits a Broken Heart and the award-winning Step Into the Bible. Ruth is an experienced conference speaker and has appeared on “Good Morning America,” “FOX and Friends” and been interviewed on Moody Radio many times.
Her daughter Windsor speaks openly about her two teenage pregnancies while being related to the most famous Protestant religious leader in the world.  She contributed to two books with her mother and Sara Dormon:  I’m Pregnant, Now What? and So You Want to Adopt, Now What?
She currently is a student at Liberty University online while working for her husband’s photography business as office manager.  She also volunteers at crisis pregnancy centers and has offered her home to young girls who are pregnant.
Lifeline Family Center provides a home in Cape Coral for homeless young women in crisis pregnancies to help them become self-supporting through education, job training, parenting classes, professional counseling and spiritual guidance. It is the only residential program in Lee County for homeless young women in crisis pregnancies who are not part of the foster care program.
In the residential program, Lifeline Family Center serves up to 12 young women, ages 16 to 25, and up to 24 babies at a time. In the Outreach Ministry program, more than 6,000 women have received assistance with material needs, adoption counseling and resource referrals. The non-profit also operates a 24/7 Pregnancy Helpline, provides free pregnancy tests, free ultrasounds by appointment, and does outreach to all areas of Lee County, including all college campuses.

Celebrating this milestone year, the event will feature some of Southwest Florida’s top pit masters competing for the title of “Best BBQ in Town,” live music from local headlining bands, numerous vendors, and fun-filled activities for all ages including a lively cornhole tournament and a children’s play area with face-painting, games and more.
“BBQ, Bands & Brew has grown into our largest annual fundraising event, and its steady growth over the years has enabled us to help make a difference in the lives of more local homeowners and families in need,” said Becky Swift, executive director of Lee BIA Builders Care. “Every dollar raised stays right here in this community, and we’re thrilled to celebrate a decade of this event’s continued success and positive impact for our neighbors who need it most. Chocolate Confections: Watch and learn to make some of our all-time favorite confections! Students will learn to make luscious truffle pops, fudge, chocolate caramel squares and delicious fruit and nut-studded chocolate bark.

Shoe Painting: Choose between a premade white, milk and dark shoe (select your preference when signing up). Use melted cocoa butters, sprinkles and shimmers to decorate. Fill with hand-rolled chocolate truffles.

Cookies: Learn techniques for creating cookies that are permanent classics as well as some new recipes you can add to your repertoire. Master the perfect chocolate chip cookie, the yummy thumbprint cookie, the unique but undeniably delicious coconut macaroon and the classic cut-out sugar cookie.

Cupcakes and Cake Pops: Learn to create fun and festive decorated cupcakes and cake pops. Students will be shown how to make buttercream and create cute and playful cupcakes using various piping techniques, as well as make the surprisingly simple but popular cake pops.

American Classic Pies: Learn how easy it is to make some all-time American classics. This hands-on class lets you make your own crusts and fillings for the favorite key lime pie, banana cream pie, chocolate cream pie and a rustic apple tart.

Thanksgiving Pies: Usher in the magic of the holiday season with the mastery of your favorite holiday pies! Learn to make fresh pie dough, and then use it to make the famously popular pumpkin pie, the nostalgic and comforting apple pie and the ooey gooey scrumptious pecan pie.

Layered Cake: Learn how to make the popular chocolate layered cake, including the super moist chocolate cake with a rich baked chocolate ganache filling and decadent chocolate frosting, all layered together to make an attractive, delicious masterpiece.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Feb. 13, 2019) – Shell Point continues its fourth annual 2019 Medical Breakthroughs & Discoveries series with a presentation by internationally recognized author and speaker, Dr. Michael Klaper, to be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Village Church Auditorium at Shell Point. This educational health care presentation, entitled “Nutrition Meets Modern Medicine: The Key to Reversing Chronic Disease,” is free and open to the public. During this presentation, attendees will explore the role of eating healthy foods in reversing diabetes, high blood pressure, clogged arteries and other chronic diseases. Klaper will also share practical examples for healthy shopping, food preparation and restaurant dining.
Klaper is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago and has received postgraduate training in internal medicine, surgery, anesthesiology and orthopedics at University of British Columbia’s teaching hospitals in Vancouver.
Additionally, Klaper served as nutrition advisor to NASA’s programs for space colonists on the moon and Mars, as well as on the Nutrition Task Force of the American Medical Students Association.
