Fort Myers-based insurance agency contributes to Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson’s

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 29, 2022) – Already recognized across Southwest Florida as one of our region’s most philanthropic small businesses, Iron Ridge Insurance Services is extending its tradition of community support in our area. The Fort Myers-based boutique insurance agency has made a $1,000 contribution to Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson’s.

Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson’s is a Southwest Florida 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with Parkinson’s Disease and their caregivers. It serves more than 3,000 people affected by Parkinson’s each year at no charge. Iron Ridge’s donation will help to underwrite Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson’s signature event, Cause 4 Hope, which will be held in Sarasota on April 23.

“When one of their board members reached out to me about being a potential supporter, he expressed his excitement about bringing even more service for people with Parkinson’s into Charlotte County,” said Norman Lutz, CEO of Iron Ridge Insurance Services. “I discussed it with some members of the Iron Ridge team, and they were all enthusiastic about supporting such a worthy cause.”

A commitment to philanthropy is a sentiment shared across the Iron Ridge family. While the organization makes a number of corporate donations each year, Iron Ridge annually asks each team member to select a cause special to them to support with a $500 gift. With 10 team members in 2021, the result was $5,000 in donations made to worthy initiatives in July. Supported programs and initiatives included Child Care of Southwest Florida; Faces of Courage, Inc.; Humane Society Naples; IMAG History & Science Center; and Midwest Food Bank, among others. For a complete list of organizations supported by Iron Ridge, visit www.IronRidgeUS.com/community.

“While we encourage our team members to volunteer and support local causes on their own, we also know it’s important to walk the walk as a company,” added Lutz. “We want to make a difference in the community both as individuals and as an organization.”

In addition to its charitable initiatives, Iron Ridge Insurance Services prides itself on its commitment to providing knowledgeable, innovative, and ethical insurance coverage to its clients. It primarily serves commercial clients, with particular focus on healthcare, architects and engineers, legal practices, condominium and homeowners’ associations, and religious organizations. Its team of insurance professionals have a wealth of commercial and personal insurance experience.

For an evaluation of your commercial or personal insurance coverage, contact Iron Ridge Insurance Services at 800-775-8526 or [email protected].

FWC announces benchmark of 1 million registered vessels in Florida

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) today announced that Florida continues to lead the nation and has passed the mark of 1 million registered recreational vessels across the state. Florida, with its great year-round weather and plenty of access to fresh and salt water, is the “Boating Capital of the World.” With more people calling Florida home and more vessels on the water, it’s important that residents and visitors practice safe boating.

The top five counties for vessel registration in Florida are Miami-Dade (74,622), Pinellas (53,867), Lee (50,304), Broward (47,741) and Hillsborough (41,495).
“Crossing the million mark just confirms what we always knew – Florida is the top state for boaters. And with more boats on the water, we want to spread the word about boating safety to both residents and visitors enjoying Florida’s year-round boating season,” said Maj. Rob Beaton, Boating and Waterways Section Leader. “A safe day while boating is a great day. Nothing can ruin a fun and memorable experience on the water faster than a boating accident.”

Boaters are encouraged to wear their life jackets, maintain 360-degree awareness and know the dangers (and penalties) for operating a vessel while impaired.

“Life-changing tragedies happen because individuals choose to operate a boat while impaired. Those tragedies are preventable,” said Maj. Beaton. “As law enforcement, it is our job to do all we can to ensure the safety of all boaters.”

If you plan to enjoy Florida’s beautiful waterways, check out MyFWC.com/Boating for boating safety tips. You can even search there for the Florida Boat Ramp Finder to help you find a great place to launch your boat!

Camp registrations for SWFL premiere of "Trap" at The Lab are open!

SWFL premiere Summer Camp show announced at The Laboratory Theater of Florida June 27th – July 15th

FORT MYERS, FL (March 21, 2022) – The Laboratory Theater of Florida’s award-winning education department will be holding a Summer Camp from June 27th – July 15th for students aged 11 – 17.

The students will create and produce the creepily delightful mystery Trap by Stephen Gregg, with three performances July 15th – 16th.

The Laboratory Theater of Florida takes a “whole actor” approach to acting. In addition to physical theater, stage combat, voice modulation, blocking, stagecraft, and scene study, students also learn the basics of set design, lighting elements, lighting design, costuming, stage makeup, stage management, and theater etiquette and best practices. And, of course, theater games.

The camp culminates in a professional production of Trap by Stephen Gregg, which plays for three performances the weekend of July 15th. Speaking and backstage roles are available for all abilities, genders, and ethnicities within the camp age range.

The theater follows both the CDC and the School District of Lee County guidelines regarding the pandemic. This camp is limited to 16 students, ages 11-17, which guarantees an abundance of one-on-one instruction and allows us to keep the students as safe as possible. The theater will consider actors outside this age range on a case-by-case basis and readiness assessment.

Each day will offer a different intensive lesson. This is a hands-on, interactive camp with theater professionals; a completely immersive experience that has proven to be both successful and enjoyable by previous campers. Summer Camp runs from 9 am – 4 pm each day (with a 30-minute window from 8:30 am – 9 am and from 4 pm – 4:30 pm) and is $450 for the entire theatrical experience. Scholarships and sibling discounts are available.

Registration is required. For registration forms or scholarship applications, please call The Laboratory Theater of Florida’s Education Department at 239-841-4250 or register online at www.laboratorytheaterflorida.com.

This camp is sponsored in part by a grant from The School District of Lee County.

Cabaret is a powerful musical set in 1931 Berlin in the shadow of the Nazi rise to power. Focusing on the hedonistic nightlife at the sexy, seedy Kit Kat Klub, Cabaret revolves around American writer Cliff Bradshaw’s relationship with English cabaret performer Sally Bowles. The club’s master of ceremonies delivers ribald songs that explore the dark, intoxicating, and turbulent life of Berlin’s citizens and expatriates under an emerging Third Reich.
