SATURDAY TICKETS SUNDAY TICKETS Featuring Gulf Coast Symphony Fellow: Anna Trujillo ![]() Ana Trujillo is a Cuban born flutist currently living in Fort Myers, FL. At 10 years old she started her academic musical studies at the “Escuela Vocacional de Artes” in Matanzas, Cuba, her hometown. At the age of 15 she moved to Toluca, Mexico. There she won a scholarship to study at the “Conservatorio de Música del Estado de México”. In the studio of Mrs. Sabina Laurain. There she completed her High School degree as well as a Technical Flute Performance degree. While she was in the Conservatory she played with the Conservatory Orchestra, and the “Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM) Chamber Ensemble” where she played as a soloist in various opportunities. In 2014 she won the 3rd place in the category Youth II in the “Concurso Nacional Gildardo Mojica” in Monterrey, Mexico. A few months later, served as principal flute of the Silvestre Revueltas Lyric Ensemble. With it she went on tour through multiple cities in Mexico. In 2015 she won 2nd prize in the “Presea al Merito” in Toluca, Mexico. In 2015 she graduated with honors from the “Conservatorio de Música del Estado de México”. In 2015 she moved to Boston, MA where she studied privately with Dr. Linda Toote, Ms. Ona Jonaityte and Mr. Marco Granados. In May 2017 she won a scholarship for the “Marco Granados Music Institute” in Flagstaff, AZ. In June of 2022, Ana finished her studies at the University of Denver “Lamont School of Music” in Denver, CO, where she was awarded a full Merit Scholarship and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance. There she studied under the tutelage of Julie Duncan-Thornton of the Colorado Symphony. At Lamont Ana shared stage with world renown artists like principal trombone of the NY Philharmonic, Joe Alessi and Brett Mitchell, former music director of the Colorado Symphony. In 2021 she was awarded an Honorable Mention in the “Solo Honors Competition” at the Lamont School of Music and in 2022 she won the first Prize in the “Lamont Chamber Music Competition”. He has written over one hundred thirty works in all genres, several of which have gone on to become standard repertoire for their instruments, such as his Sonata for Flute and Piano and Gargoyles for piano, each of which have been recorded over twenty times on CD.
