Assist Community Cooperative In Combatting Summer Hunger With Their

“School’s Out, Hunger’s Not” Initiative

FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 18, 2024) – With school out, many children in our community face the stark reality of food insecurity without reliable meals provided during the school year. With Community Cooperative’s “School’s Out, Hunger’s Not” initiative, they are dedicated to ending summer hunger and supporting families in need during these challenging months.

During the school year, children rely on school-provided meals for their daily nutrition. However, when summer arrives, these essential meals disappear, placing a significant struggle on families. The added expense of childcare and the absence of free school meals create a gap many families find difficult to bridge.

How YOU can help:

  • Donate Financially: Your monetary contributions will enable Community Cooperative to purchase essential food items and assemble ‘Hungry Hungry Kiddo Kits.’
  • Donate Wishlist Items: Alternatively, you can support the initiative by donating specific items from the wish list, which include nutritious snacks, shelf-stable food items, and other essentials for children.
  • Spread the Word: Share the initiative with your family and friends. Awareness is key to ensuring that every child in our community has access to the nutrition they need.
