Alliance for the Arts Presents Whimsy & Wonder

The November Gallery by Doug MacGregor will be on view November 3-25

FORT MYERS, FL (October 24, 2023) – The Alliance for the Arts invites the public to its opening reception for Whimsy & Wonder on November 3 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The free event features the works of Doug MacGregor as well as light refreshments provided by Jayne Baker. The exhibit will be on view from November 3-25, 2023 at 10091 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers.

With his pen, pencil and colorful brush, MacGregor introduces viewers to his creative world as an artist, cartoonist, and storyteller. Whimsical wildlife from land, sea and air will capture hearts and imaginations. (And yes: pigs, octopuses and sea cows do fly!)

MacGregor has been an artist, illustrator and cartoonist for over 45 years, working for newspapers and print publications across the US. MacGregor currently draws weekly editorial cartoons for The Naples Press and has been Coordinator of the Arts in Healthcare program at Lee Health since 2012, bringing art, music and more to its patients. He has also published six children’s books. Additional details on MacGregor’s artwork and children’s books can be found at Dougcreates.com.

Michelle J. McDonald was born in Jamaica, but has lived in the US since she was a child. She is a member of the Fort Myers Mural Society. She was involved in the Downtown Fort Myers River Basin Project and has a tile on display at the First Street Library. She attended the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts and then started a family. Now that her children are grown up, she is able to pursue her own artistic endeavors. Her work comprises various styles using acrylic, oils, and collage. She aims to provoke a feeling in everyone who views her artwork.

Paul David Adamick, commonly called ART MAN, is a retired elementary art teacher of 41 years. He grew up in Chicago and has lived in Cape Coral for 36 years. He has had four solo exhibitions at different galleries in Cape Coral, Fort Myers, and Sanibel. He is a mixed media artist combining clay, fused glass, and bent wire. He teaches a painting class at the Cape Coral Art Center where he also attended classes himself. Since retiring 9 years ago, he has been living his dream of creating art full time.
