Deadline: March 12 • Our Art Lives Here campaign creates more art for more people by displaying artwork on billboards throughout southwest Florida, transforming advertising space into public art for and by our talented local artists! We want to bring YOUR art outside the traditional context of museum and gallery walls – submit your work for the chance to have it displayed on billboards around southwest Florida!
Plein Air Abstract Landscape Painting – Outdoor Class

 

Wednesday, March 10 – April 14 • Join artist Marilyn Hedlund for an outdoor, in-person plein air abstract landscape painting class where nature will be your guide. Learn to use landscapes or seascapes as the basis for an abstract painting. Free up your expression and sense of confining boundaries by focusing on color combinations and painting from the heart.
Early Morning Tai Chi – Outdoor Class

 

Mondays, March 15 – April 19 •. Learn to move smoothly and efficiently with grace, suppleness, balance and good posture. Learn to relax your body and open your energy pathways with this outdoor, early morning class!
Palette Knife Painting – Onsite, Two Day Workshop

 

Two-Day Workshop, March 15 – 16 • This information-packed workshop is designed to give a good foundation for bold, direct palette knife painting, accommodating beginner to advanced painters! Class begins with a demonstration focusing on the most direct and effective methods for painting strong, vibrant oils using painting knives and a limited palette. Afterwards, participants will paint from their own photography or may choose to paint from one of the large photos provided for them by the instructor.
Chair Yoga – Outdoor Class

 

Mondays, March 15 – April 12 • Join Nicole for Chair Yoga to help you get a deep stretch, broaden your breathing and calm your mind. This class is open to everyone especially those who can’t get up and down from the floor for a more traditional yoga class. Poses have modifications for different levels and abilities. Each class will work on building and maintaining balance and strength. This is an outside class and we’ll provide you with a chair!
Yoga Flow with Mat – Outdoor Class

 

Tuesdays, March 16 – April 13 • Join Nicole for Slow Flow Yoga to help you gain more connection to your body and mind. This class is open to all levels. New to yoga? This is a great place to start. Learn the fundamentals of yoga poses and learn how to get the most out of the practice!
Afternoon Tai Chi – Onsite Class

 

Thursdays, March 18 – April 22 • Gently build your strength, flexibility and mental clarity. Tai Chi exercise is appropriate for all ages and any skill level. No experience necessary.
The Portrait Sketch in Three Colors (Trois Crayons) – Onsite Class

 

Saturday, March 20 • This workshop focuses on the classical method of using three tones: red, black and white to create the illusion of form and atmosphere through tone. A favored method of Renaissance and Venetian artists, this approach to drawing using three colors (“trioscouleurs”) is an important historical aspect of 19th century and modern atelier practice.
Virtual Field Trip: New York Guggenheim Museum – Hilma af Klint Exhibit: Paintings for the Future

 

Saturday, March 20 • Head to the Big Apple and (virtually) experience the iconic Guggenheim Museum with your friends from the Alliance. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity lets you spend intimate time with Hilma af Klint: Paintings for the Future exhibition.

 

Hilma af Klint (1862–1944) is a long under-recognized innovator of abstract art. Her Paintings for the Future is one of the Guggenheim’s most popular exhibitions.
Zati Basket – Onsite Workshop

 

Saturday, March 27 • Baskets, though often used for decoration today, have for thousands of years served as useful containers, custom-made for the task at hand. In this workshop, learn to weave a basket from yarn and natural materials on a flat tapestry loom and surprise yourself with the shaping of a basket.
Intro to Digital Photography – Onsite Class

 

Thursdays, April 1 – 29 • Let’s get you comfortable with your DSLR camera! In this class, you’ll learn how to use the Manual mode on your camera to control your Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, and White Balance. We’ll also cover alternative shooting modes (Program Mode, Aperture Priority, and Shutter Priority), exposure compensation, and how to get the best photos in low-light situations.

Saturday, March 13 • This young collective of musicians, vocalists and entertainers are creating a revival and new appreciation of swing/jazz music. You will be tapping your feet, dancing and singing along with their high energy enthusiasm. Whether you decide to dress in period costume to join in on the fun or just be a spectator, being part of an event with The Swingin’ Clique is one you will want to repeat!
Stand-up Comedy on the GreenMarket Stage

 

Thursday, March 18 • Three different comedians make up this funny night – JF Harris, Jojo Casillas and Griffin Thomas take the stage for an evening of laughs! Headliner J.F. Harris is a former NYC now LA based stand up comic and writer. You may have seen his stand up on The Late Late Show with James Corden or Bill Burr presents The Ringers on Comedy Central.
