            The public is invited to attend the Fort Myers-Lee County Garden Council’s (FMLCGC ) flower show, “All that Glitters,” on Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1.  The show is being presented by the National Garden Club in cooperation with FMLCGC.  The  show will be  held at the FMLCGC’s headquarters,  2166 Virginia Avenue, Fort Myers.  The Friday show will be open from 1-4pm and on Saturday from 10am-3pm.  There is no admission charge and parking is free.   Visitors will be able to tour the Berne Davis  Botanical Garden while attending the flower show

            Horticulture, floral design, and botanical arts displays will be part of the show.   Educational exhibits from the James E. Hendry Chapter of the American Hibiscus Society and the Caloosahatchee Bromeliad Society will be on display in the Berne Davis Botanical Garden.

Special presentations being arranged include “Growing Herbs in Southwest Florida by Wendy Sprague, president of the Florida Herbs Enthusiasts, at 2:00p.m. on Friday.  Also, John Hampton of the Southwest Florida Orchid Society will give a presentation on Saturday at 11:00a.m. on “Orchid Culture in Southwest Florida; he will discuss how to get orchids to grow and flower.

The Fort Myers-Lee County Garden Council was formed in 1957.  Membership provides an opportunity to learn about floral design, growing plants suitable for our locale, and conservation methods.  The Council assists in educating and beautifying the community, and improving the environment.  A speakers bureau provides speakers for meetings and events.  The Council is a member of the National Garden Clubs, the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, and American Public Gardens Association.
