May 16, 2018 – Fort Myers, FL – Sounds of Summer is back with another great line up of talented, young musicians! From June 8th – August 24th, this biweekly series features acts like Sheena Brook, the Woodwork, and Roots Almighty. Plus, the Singer-Songwriter Competition returns to close out the series! Don’t miss the most anticipated concerts of the summer. The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center is located at 2301 First St. in the historic downtown Fort Myers River District.
The Sounds of Summer concert series brings the best original music to downtown Fort Myers! Each concert features two acclaimed acts performing inside on the SBDAC stage. This summer’s series kicks off on June 8th with emerging artists Emma Arnold and Kate Skales. Opening act Emma Arnold has made a name for herself in the singer-songwriter community. Headliner Kate Skales just released her new album Ready for Me in April 2018 to great reviews.
The series continues on June 22nd with performances from Melissa Lee and Sheena Brook. Melissa Lee is a young talent just stepping onto the Nashville scene. Plus, local favorite Sheena Brook headlines this date, which also features the People’s Choice winner announcement for the June Juried Exhibition. On July 13th, see jazzy Naples quartet the Woodwork headline for opening act Mountain Holler from St. Petersburg, Florida. Then on July 27th, Curate SWFL takes over the Sounds of Summer stage for surprise performances from local leaders in the music scene.
August 10th showcases one of the area’s best reggae bands, Roots Almighty. Plus, enjoy opening act the Regulars, who were last year’s Singer-Songwriter Competition winners. The Second Annual Singer-Songwriter Competition closes out the series on August 24th, where original artists compete for a performance spot at the Island Hopper Music Festival and recording time at SBDAC’s Six Fingers Studios.

FSW and FGCU students can buy one ticket and get one free by presenting a student ID at the box office.
