March 19, 2019, Fort Myers, FL: The Southwest Florida Community Foundation in partnership with United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee has created the SWFL Emergency Relief Fund in response to COVID-19 to serve our neighbors in Southwest Florida.
The Fund will provide resources to local organizations working to provide aid to those impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.  The Fund is designed to complement the work of public health officials and local government to expand local capacity to address all aspects of the outbreak as efficiently as possible.
The Community Foundation will proactively work with the United Way as they identify potential grant recipients and solicit guidance on potential recipients from other community funders and advisors.  Funds will be released on a rolling basis as fundraising continues through the outbreak and recovery phases of the crisis making it possible to move resources quickly and adapt to evolving needs.
