S. Florida Newsletter – November 2022

Message from our District Director J. Malcom Richards

In November, when the Nation collectively celebrates Thanksgiving, we begin to focus our attention on Gratitude for what we have. At the SBA South Florida District Office we are thankful to have turned the corner on Covid and are looking forward to what the New Year will bring. We are appreciative of our Resource Partners who consistently provided their high-quality knowledge, expertise and guidance that helped so many of our small businesses to pivot and survive the pandemic. We are also thankful to our Lending partners who provided nearly 3,000 SBA-backed loans to small businesses valued over $1.8B to propel them forward. Most of all, we are grateful to our small business owners and entrepreneurs who, through their tenacity and resilience, have continued to provide stability to our economy and our communities. On that note, make sure to nominate an outstanding business for Small Business Person of the Year.

At SBA, we are committed to ensuring equal access to our programs and services by every sector of the small business community. November is National Native American Month; check out these resources for your business. At the beginning of November SBA celebrates the achievements of veterans who are successful business owners during National Veterans Small Business Week. And, this month on Veterans Day, we express our gratitude to the men and women of our Armed Forces who defend the Nation. Additionally, we are pleased to be a part of the soft launch of SBA’s National Strategic Alliance with the Divine 9. If you’re in the Miami area, mark your calendars and join us in-person on November 3rd in Opa-Locka, Florida.

Finally, please remember to support your local small businesses and communities by shopping and dining on Small Business Saturday, November 26th. As you can see, November is jam-packed with opportunities to engage with SBA and we hope you will. We are Thankful for YOU!
