Fort Myers, Fla. – May 25, 2018 – At their May meeting, the Rotary Club of Fort Myers South presented a total of $29,498 in donations to local law enforcement agencies to amplify their youth programs and officer trainings. All funds were raised at the 2017 Law & Order Ball, a celebration of Lee County law enforcement hosted by the Club on October 21, 2017.
In all, the Rotary Club of Fort Myers South presented checks in the amount of $4,214 each to seven local law enforcement agencies. Recipients included: Cape Coral Police Department, Florida Gulf Coast University Police Department, Florida Southwestern State College Police Department, Fort Myers Police Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Port Authority, and the Sanibel Police Department.
The Law and Order Ball is an annual event honoring seven of Lee County’s local law enforcement agencies for their commitment to public safety. In 2017, the event benefitted the Rotary Club of Fort Myers South Foundation, which provides grants to Lee County law enforcement agencies and local non-profit organizations. Funds raised also supported Lee County law enforcement youth programs, as well as the purchase of high-risk, high liability training and equipment for officers.
Southwest Florida’s finest are celebrated each year, including the five finalists for the Officer of the Year Award. The 2018 event marks the fifth anniversary of the Law & Order Ball, which will take place at Germain Arena on Saturday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m. For more information about the Law & Order Ball, visit LawAndOrderBall.org or contact [email protected].
