Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) is pleased to announce that nominations are now open
for the 2026 Roots in Education teacher grant program. This year, LMCU is celebrating the
unique “superpowers” educators use to make a positive impact on their students and
school communities.
LMCU’s annual Roots in Education program awards 25 educators a $1,000 grant to
enhance their classrooms and support their teaching efforts. These funds may be used for
classroom supplies, subscriptions to online services, or any resource that enriches
students’ educational experiences. An educator’s superpower might be creativity,
infectious enthusiasm, the ability to inspire, or a gift for making every student feel seen.
Whatever makes them exceptional, LMCU is proud to recognize it.
Educators from pre-K through high school can be nominated for this award. Students,
peers, parents, and community members are encouraged to nominate educators whose
superpowers — whatever they may be — help their students thrive.
Nominees must be residents of Michigan or Florida. More details, full eligibility
requirements, and the nomination form can be found by visiting LMCU.org/TeacherGrant.
Nominations will be accepted from February 1 through March 31, 2026.
