In the fall of 2025, finalists from across the United States gathered in Washington, D.C. to compete in the National Civics Bee Championship.
The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to host a nonpartisan civics competition that encourages young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. Participating 6th, 7th and 8th graders will flex their civics knowledge for a chance to win recognition and cash prizes.
Why It Matters
Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. The Civics Bee helps foster:
A deeper understanding of American government and history
Critical thinking and public speaking skills
Civic pride and community engagement
How it Works:
Essay Submission
Students submit a short essay responding to a civic engagement prompt.

Top local essay finalists are invited to compete in a live quiz event hosted by the Chamber.Live Civics Bee Event
Finalists answer civics questions in front of an audience for a chance to win prizes and advance to the Florida State Civics Bee.State and National Competition
Winners from the Fort Myers event may qualify to compete at the state and potentially national level.
HOW TO ENTER
Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student residing in Florida with an idea about using civics to improve their community may submit their application to participate in the competition. All applications must be submitted by Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Hawaii Time.
