United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades has received a charitable gift of $23,000 from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation to support Youth Summer Camp and Afterschool Programming through the YMCA in Hendry and Glades counties. This substantial contribution will enhance the lives of children and families, empowering them with valuable educational and recreational opportunities.
Youth Summer Camp and Afterschool Programming will provide a wide range of activities designed to foster academic achievement, personal development and social skills. With the support of Suncoast Credit Union, United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades will be able to offer more children the chance to participate in these impactful programs, which include academic tutoring, sports, arts and crafts and leadership development through the programs at the YMCA.
“We are incredibly grateful to Suncoast Credit Union for their unwavering commitment to our community,” said Jeannine Joy, president and CEO of United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades. “This donation will enable us to extend assistance to our residents so that the children can attend Youth Summer Camp and Afterschool Programming through the YMCA. This ensures children in Hendry County have access to safe, engaging and enriching activities during the critical out-of-school hours.”
Suncoast Credit Union, Florida’s largest credit union, established the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation to promote the education, health and emotional well-being of children in the community. Each time a Suncoast member uses their debit or credit card, the credit union donates four cents to the Foundation to fund local initiatives. Since its inception in 1990, the Foundation has raised and donated over $55 million.
“Summer camp can be a defining moment in the lives of youth and afterschool programming can be a lifeline,” said Jeff Kunberger, executive director of foundations at Suncoast. “Supporting these programs and working with United Way allows us to put the words of our mission into action while we help to improve the communities we serve.”
