VENUS IN FUR – IN THE NEWS

 
VENUS IN FUR actors David McElwee and Kathleen Simmonds made the media
rounds last week. First stop, MORE IN THE MORNING on Gulf Coast ABC. On
Thursday, the pair were part of a radio interview with John Davis on WGCU Gulf
Coast Life – Arts Edition.

Florida Rep audiences have been raving about these two incredibly talented actors,
describing them as excellent, phenomenal, extraordinary, spectacular and beyond.

their process and approach to bringing their VENUS IN FUR characters to life,
their backgrounds in the world of theatre, and beyond.

FUN FACTS: Kathleen is from Australia where she practiced law prior to taking
on acting. In addition to being an actor, David is also a writer and teaching artist.

Florida Rep Education Conservatory Theatre students, ages 14 – 22, are gearing up
to perform in the Tony-winning, family-favorite 60s musical, HAIRSPRAY! 

Set in 1962, the story follows lovable plus-size teen Tracy who has one desire, to
dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show.” When her dreams come true, the teen
is transformed from social outcast to sudden star and uses her newfound power to
dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin,
and integrate a TV network… all without denting her bouffant ‘do!

Performances take place May 16 – 18, and May 23-25. Tickets are on sale now:
