The Desert Rose The Desert Rose (Adenium obesum) is known for its vibrant, fragrant flowers, which are typically red or pink. They can be up to 3 inches in diameter per flower and are trumpet-shaped with five pedals that are arranged to almost look like a star. It is unique with its thick, succulent trunk and thin and delicate leaves. The Desert Rose is a slow growing plant that is native to Africa, the Middle East and Madagascar. In a tropical climate like Florida it is a popular decorative outdoor plant, but in a cooler climate, it is grown indoors. We have the Desert Rose in a few locations on our site, but this particular fiery bloom is lo- cated along the walkway to the Edison property from the Mc- Gregor main gate.
