First Responders Honored One Slice At A Time

First Responders Honored One Slice At A Time

A group of Amavida senior living residents who believe in good old American values had a desire to start a movement within our local county to honor our First Responders, including Sheriff’s offices, Fort Myers Police, Fire stations, and EMS. This is our way of saying “Thank you for your service to our community.” We created Stand United 4 America to do so.

Lee County was divided into Fire Districts. Pizza establishments and First Responders were located within these districts. Our Volunteers called on local pizza establishments to see if they would support our Mission by becoming a Pizza Partner donating four large pizzas biweekly or monthly. Amavida residents pick up the pizzas and deliver them to our First Responders.

Currently the fire districts being served are South Trail, Iona McGregor, Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva. Our generous Pizza Partners understand the importance of community and the value of supporting those who serve on the front lines. By donating pizzas, they show their appreciation for these hard working and dedicated heroes. We are now delivering 60 pizzas a month and growing. We would like to thank Pizza Pub, Blue Moon Pizza, Great White Grill and Island Pizza who are currently donating 8 large pizzas monthly and are joined by Starz, O’leary’s Bar and Grill, Little Sicily, Two Meatballs in the Kitchen, Buster’s Sports Tavern, Fine Folk Pizza and Costco.

We are looking to find other Volunteers and Pizza Partners to expand our movement to the entire County.

Through a partnership with Fort Myers Technical College, our website is up online. standunited4america.com. This will now provide the opportunity to highlight our Pizza Partners and connect with other Volunteers.

Joe Destefano reports, “It is a joy to see the faces of pizza recipients as they receive their meal. The visit also gives us the opportunity to develop relationships with our First Responders.”

Sergio of Two Meatballs In The Kitchen says “We donate pizzas to stand united for America because we believe in giving back to those in our community who work tirelessly to serve us. We want them to know that their hard work never goes unnoticed, and we are always grateful.”
