CRA approves improvement matching grants for MLK

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Feb. 3, 2026) – The Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) recently approved two Commercial Property Improvement Matching Grants for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. redevelopment area.

The first grant was in the not-to exceed amount of $41,013.83 for Imad North America, Inc.’s property located at 5001 Dr. MLK Blvd. for sign replacement.

The second grant was in the not-to-exceed amount of $17,326.88 for Ida Wells’ property located at 2957 Dr. MLK Blvd. The grant will be used to install a canopy and awning as well as parking lot improvements.

The CRA Commercial Property Improvement Grant Program is a matching grant for commercial property owners and businesses within Fort Myers redevelopment areas. The maximum potential grant available for a project in Tier I is 75 percent of the total eligible expenditure, with a maximum award of $50,000. The Fort Myers CRA has offered commercial preservation incentives/ grant programs since 2010 and grant awards are based on the availability of funds.
