Community Cooperative Seeks Meals on Wheels of Southwest Florida Drivers in SWFL, Especially Lehigh Acres
Community Cooperative is seeking compassionate community members to volunteer as drivers to help deliver meals through its Meals on Wheels of Southwest Florida program, providing critical nutrition and meaningful connection to homebound individuals. There is an urgent need for volunteer to help deliver on routes in Lehigh Acres.
Meals on Wheels of Southwest Florida volunteers do more than deliver a meal, they provide a vital connection for homebound seniors and individuals living with disabilities who may otherwise go days without seeing another person. Through a friendly visit and a warm meal, volunteer drivers help ensure neighbors remain nourished, safe and connected.
“Meals on Wheels of Southwest Florida is about so much more than food,” said Stefanie Ink, CEO of Community Cooperative. “For many of our clients, our volunteer drivers are a lifeline. They provide a wellness check, a smile and a few moments of conversation that can make all the difference.”
The need for volunteer drivers in the Lehigh Acres community is especially urgent as the number of homebound individuals in the area continues to grow. Community Cooperative is seeking volunteers who can commit to delivering meals during Monday-Friday, between 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Routes typically take about two hours. There is no minimum or maximum commitment. Volunteering as a Meals on Wheels of Southwest Florida driver can help once a week or once a month.
Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to pick up prepared meals and deliver them along a designated route to the elderly and disabled.
Community Cooperative encourages individuals, civic groups, and businesses in the region to volunteer. Drivers can choose routes and schedules that work best for them, making it a flexible way to give back and make a direct impact.
