Community Cooperative Launches Annual Summer Cereal Drive to Support Local Families
Community Cooperative is launching its annual Summer Cereal Drive from June 1 through July 3 to help provide nutritious breakfasts for children and families throughout Southwest Florida during the summer months.
When school is out for summer, many children lose access to the free and reduced-price breakfasts they rely on during the school year. For families already facing food insecurity, the added cost of providing additional meals at home can place significant strain on household budgets.
To help bridge this gap, Community Cooperative is collecting donations of unopened cereal boxes to ensure local children and families have access to a simple, nutritious, and easy breakfast option while school meals are unavailable.
“Nutritious meals are essential for children’s health, growth, and ability to thrive,” said Stefanie Ink, CEO of Community Cooperative. “Our Summer Cereal Drive helps ensure children can continue starting their day with a nourishing breakfast even while school is out.”
Community members, businesses, schools, churches, and organizations are encouraged to participate by hosting cereal drives, donating unopened cereal boxes, or making monetary contributions to support cereal purchases. Donations can be dropped off at Community Cooperative, located at 3429 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33916.
Collected cereal will be distributed to local families through Community Cooperative’s Community Market, Mobile Food Pantries, and partner agencies, serving Southwest Florida families throughout the summer.
Every donation helps provide nourishment, comfort, and support to children and families facing hunger during the summer months.
