CMON is now open on Wednesdays!

We’re excited to share an update designed for families who benefit from a calmer museum environment.

Beginning February 4, CMON will be open on Wednesdays with a gentle, sensory-friendly approach called Exceptional Wednesdays, held weekly from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (9:00 – 10:00 a.m.) member hour.

These hours are especially supportive for families with children who have physical or neurological disabilities, including Autism and sensory processing differences.

Exceptional Wednesdays build on what families love about our Exceptional Nights, which will pause after January 27, while offering more opportunities to enjoy the museum during daytime hours.

During these hours, the museum environment is adjusted to reduce sensory stimulation. Lighting and sound levels are lowered, music is turned off, crowds are lighter, and designated calm/down spaces are available throughout the museum so children can explore, play, and learn at their own pace.

Calm & Comfort kits are available by request at the front desk to support children when they are experiencing big emotions.

Calm & Comfort Kits

CMON is proud to enhance our commitment to inclusive play with updated Calm & Comfort Kits, made possible through a partnership with Lee Health’s Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Now available at the museum front desk, these kits include a variety of sensory tools and timers to help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder enjoy a more comfortable museum experience.

Together, we’re creating a space where every child can play, learn, and dream.

Wednesdays just got a whole lot more creative

Also starting in February, we’ll be hosting Grown-Up & Me Art Workshops!

A fun, hands-on class where grown-ups and little ones (ages 3+) create, explore, and bond through art together.

Join us Wednesdays from 10:30–11:15 a.m. (or Mondays too!) to try a new art process each week and head home with a one-of-a-kind masterpiece you made side by side!
