City of Fort Myers Wellfield Expansion Groundbreaking

ADDITIONAL: Join the City of Fort Myers and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) for a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating a state-funded wellfield expansion following impacts to the well system from Hurricanes Fiona and Ian. The city has been awarded $20 million in funding from FDEP’s Resilient Florida Program and $34.8 million from FDEP’s Water Restoration Assistance State Revolving Fund to install up to 12 new source water wells with backup power generation. This project will be completed at no cost to taxpayers and will provide added redundancy, improving the system’s resilience and reliability during future weather events.
