Celebrating 60 Years of A Love Supreme — A Tribute Performance at the MACC

60 Years of A Love Supreme — A Tribute to John Coltrane

This year marks the 60th anniversary of one of the most influential jazz
albums of all time — John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme. To celebrate this
monumental album, we invite you to experience a special live tribute per-
formance at the Music & Arts Community Center on May 1 at 7:00 PM.

The Legacy of A Love Supreme

Released in 1965, A Love Supreme is a spiritual masterpiece that showcases
Coltrane’s pioneering approach to jazz. Recorded during a time of personal
transformation and a deep exploration of spirituality, the album represents
Coltrane’s search for meaning through music. It’s often considered not just
an album, but a prayer — a profound expression of Coltrane’s commitment
to his faith and his art.

The work blends complex harmonies, modal jazz, and raw emotion in a way
that had never been heard before. It’s divided into four parts — Acknowled-
gement, Resolution, Pursuance, and Psalm — each representing a differ-
ent stage in Coltrane’s spiritual journey. A Love Supreme has left an indelible
mark on the world of jazz, and continues to be a touchstone for musicians
and fans alike.

A Tribute by the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective

nal vision while adding their own unique touch. Led by Paul Gavin, Zach
Bartholomew, Brandon Robertson, and guest saxophonist Zach Born-
heimer, this performance is a heartfelt tribute to Coltrane’s legacy.

Join us as we revisit this iconic album, experience its spiritual depth, and witness
the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective show their appreciation and respect for one of the
greatest jazz legends of all time.
