Celebrate “The Power Of Parks and Recreation” during Park and Recreation Month in the City of Fort Myers
Monthlong celebration highlights the impact of parks and recreation
FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 30, 2026) – This July, the City of Fort Myers invites residents and visitors to celebrate Park and Recreation Month with the theme “The Power Of Parks and Recreation” to highlight how the city is more vibrant and connected because of these amenities. A variety of offerings are planned for participants of all ages and abilities including free entry, discounts and special events at the Fort Myers Aquatic Center, Fort Myers Racquet Club, city golf courses, Riverside Community Center, Skatium and more.
The City of Fort Myers is celebrating Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), by inviting the public to participate in the calendar of events, social media trivia and a tree giveaway at Roberto Clemente Park on July 25 from 9 a.m. to noon.
“Our parks, programs and amenities continue to bring families, friends and neighbors together — helping residents stay active, connect with nature and enjoy meaningful experiences throughout the year,” said Elgin Hicks, parks and recreation director for the City of Fort Myers. “With the continued support of our community and the resident-approved Parks and Recreation Master Plan General Obligation Bond Referendum, we continue to invest in the future of these vital public spaces.”
On July 20, the Fort Myers City Council will issue a resolution proclaiming July as Park and Recreation Month, recognizing the department’s role in enriching the social, economic and environmental quality of life in the city.
