Aloia | Roland Launches E-Bike Safety Campaign During Bicycle Safety Month
Fort Myers Law Firm Releases Video Highlighting Dangers and Prevention Tips for Southwest Florida Riders
FORT MYERS, FL — In recognition of National Bicycle Safety Month during the month of May, Aloia Roland Attorneys at Law have launched a public awareness campaign focused on e-bike safety — a growing concern across Southwest Florida as electric bicycles surge in popularity among teens, commuters, and recreational riders. The information hopes to serve as an important PSA for students in Lee County as they break for the summer in the next coming weeks.
As part of the campaign, the firm released a short, 50-second social media (YouTube Shorts) video (link to download available for newsrooms below) designed to educate riders on the potential dangers of e-bikes with a reminder to make sure riders follow the same rules as a motor vehicle and to wear proper safety head gear such as a helmet.
“E-bikes offer freedom and convenience, but that power comes with risk,” said Evan Lubell, managing partner and trial attorney at Aloia Roland Attorneys at Law. “We’re seeing an increase in serious injuries, especially among younger riders who may not understand traffic laws or the speed capabilities of their e-bikes. Our goal is to help prevent these injuries before they happen.”
Key Facts:
- E-bike injuries have tripled nationally since 2017, according to recent safety studies.
- In Florida, cyclist fatalities remain among the highest in the country, with Lee County consistently ranking near the top.
- Florida law requires riders under 16 to wear a helmet — a law many e-bike riders are unaware of.
