Summer Camps with Gulf Coast Symphony Our camps provide high-quality positive experiences for students who are interested in studying musical instruments or developing the craft of musical theater. It gives students of all levels a chance to grow artistically, explore new ideas and to share in fun activities with others. Students will learn in a safe environment and be taught by experienced professionals and educators. We create a community of positivity and respect. At the end of each week, students will present a performance to show what they have been learning to each other and parents. MusicWorks! Music & Arts Community Center  Session 1: M-F, June 9 – June 20 Session 2: M-F July 7- July 18 Grades 2-7 $400 Per Session Sign Up Deadline – May 31 MusicWorks! is an El-Sistema based program whose primary goal is to empower children to achieve their full potential through the study and performance of music. Students who will enter grades 2-7 next Fall, will learn an instrument from the string family (vio- lin, viola, cello, bass), and perform as a string orchestra, and in smaller string ensembles. Students will receive daily instruction on their instrument as well as basic music theory and music his- tory.  Register Session 1 (June 9-20) Register Session 2 (July 7-18) High School Jazz Ensemble Summer Sessions Music & Arts Community Center High School Ensemble Monday Nights, June 9 – July 14 Cost: $100 Camp Sessions and Requirements Monday Nights: 6-7:30pm June 9, 16, 23, 30, July 7, 14  This camp is for students who will be in grades 9-12 next fall (*or college freshmen) with at least 2 years of experience on their instrument. Students must know all major scales and be proficient in reading music. Students will develop in jazz performance through the study of jazz theory, improve in jazz improvisation, ensemble performing, and masterclasses. Register Middle School Jazz Ensemble Summer Session Music & Arts Community Center Middle School Ensemble Tuesday Nights, June 10 – July 15 Cost: $100 Camp Sessions and Requirements Tuesday Nights: 6-7:30pm June 10, 17, 24,  July 1, 8, 15  This camp is for students who will be in grades 6-8 next fall with at least 1 year of experience on their instrument. Students must know basic scales and be able to read music. Students will develop in jazz performance skills through the study of jazz theory, jazz improvisation, en- semble performing, and masterclasses Register Theater Triple Threat! Shakespeare on Broadway Music & Arts Community Center Session 1: July 7 – July 11 Session 2: July 14-18 Cost: $250 (Per weekly session) Camp Sessions and Requirements M-F July 7-11 Session 1 M-F July 14-18 Session 2 This five-day camp is for students in grades 2-12. Learn monologues, songs, and dance from Broad- way shows based on Shakespeare’s greatest works! Shows include: Something Rotten, West Side Story, All Shook Up, and The Lion King, among others, including opera! Learn to interpret Shakespeare through the eyes of some of Broadway’s most im- portant composers! Students will develop tech- nique in all areas of music theater including acting, singing, choreography, and rehearsal terminology with local and nationally-renowned performers, directors and choreographers.
