City of Fort Myers employees raise over $23,000 for United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades

FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 6, 2025) – City of Fort Myers employees raised $23,100 to support local nonprofits through its internal fundraising effort for United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades’ annual campaign. Proceeds will help United Way reach its 2024-2025 campaign goal of $11,271,181.

The City of Fort Myers has participated in United Way’s annual fundraising campaigns for around 30 years, with employees contributing nearly $400,000 in individual pledges since the City began participating.

“We’re incredibly proud to once again take part in the United Way fundraising campaign,” said City of Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson. “It reflects our staff’s strong spirit of unity, compassion and service. Together, we’re uplifting our neighbors and building a stronger, more supportive community for all.”

United Way President and CEO Jeannine Joy added, “We’re grateful to the City of Fort Myers and its employees for their amazing fundraising efforts. Thanks to them and so many other generous organizations, we’re able assist countless people in need across Southwest Florida.”

All monies donated to the United Way campaign remain in the community to support the local human service network of partner agencies. United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades was established in 1957 and has raised and distributed more than $232 million since its inception.
