City of Fort Myers proclaims Feb. 21 Government Communicators Day
FORT MYERS, Fla. (Feb. 4, 2025) – At the Feb. 3 Fort Myers City Council Meeting, Mayor Kevin Anderson proclaimed Feb. 21, 2025, Government Communicators Day, a special day dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the invaluable contributions of public communicators across the nation.
As part of the proclamation, Anderson addressed the City’s Office of Communications and Public Affairs team and police and fire personnel: Noelle Casagrande, Kristin Capuzzi, Andrea Guerrero, Megan Fuentes and Ariana Arias.
“Robust communication in government creates trust and inspires residents to take action and be involved,” said Anderson during the proclamation. “This honor recognizes our government communications professionals who have dedicated their careers to ensure the City of Fort Myers has effective, impactful, and successful communication strategies.”
In partnership with other City departments, the communications team serves as spokespersons with media, partner organizations, residents and visitors to ensure the community is informed and engaged on important news, such as infrastructure upgrades, input meetings, public safety and cross-sector collaborations.
“Government Communicators Day is a platform to showcase the pivotal role that public communicators play in shaping public perception, disseminating critical information and fostering community engagement,” said Scott Lehtonen, Executive Director of the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA). “For 364 days of the year, these professionals work tirelessly behind the scenes, and on this day, we aim to bring them into the spotlight they deserve.”
