South Florida District Office – January 2022

Economic Outlook for 2022

The SBA South Florida District Office had a record-smashing year in our loan guaranty programs! Despite the continued economic uncertainty in 2021 caused by the pandemic that began in March 2020, SBA-participating lenders made over $2.25B in SBA-backed loans to small businesses located throughout the 24 counties south of Orlando, Florida. That’s billion with a “B”!

Since Florida has largely been an open economy throughout most of the pandemic, Florida has become a destination for companies leaving other states. This influx has led to increased activity in lending, real estate, and other sectors.

As a result, South Florida firms are starting 2022 ahead of others in the country. Throughout the pandemic, this combination of COVID relief and SBA’s loan guarantees signify that Florida firms have had the cash they need to continue operations and growth.

Positioned on the peninsula, Florida remains a leader in international trade with multiple airports and seaports to support U.S. exports worldwide and the movement of cargo throughout the United States. SBA’s Export Express and International Trade loans can help you Go Global, too!

For 2022, SBA will return to promotion of our foundational programs and services as we have for nearly 70 years with an emphasis on reaching new and underserved communities. Small firms seeking to grow their businesses can count on SBA to help them understand how to access the federal marketplace.

SBA is the premier federal government agency supporting America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. CHECK US OUT this year!

Florida Scores Big With EIDL

Florida companies received roughly one quarter of all COVID Economic Injury Disaster Loans nationwide representing about 10% of the dollars. And, approximately one tenth of the dollars in COVID EIDL grants. These additional funds have been critical and instrumental to the successful recovery of small businesses in Florida. SBA COVID-response EIDL program results.

As of 11/14/2021 for ALL of Florida:
Florida Loans Dollars Nationwide Loans Nationwide Dollars
EIDL 477,966 $29,915,282,327 3,842,377 $292,762,355,976

TOTAL 553,850 $30,450,287,327 4,680,230 $298,669,576,976
