Road Watch Update
April 29 – May 05, 2021
Coconut Drive – Speed Hump Installation
Beginning May 3 through May 7, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., the block of Coconut Drive, between
Irwin Street and Silvestre Drive, will be closed to through traffic for construction of a new speed
hump. Local traffic will be accommodated. Other motorists, please follow detour sign directing
traffic to use Braman Avenue, via Irwin Street and Silvestre Drive.
Bay Street Utility Relocation Project
The City of Fort Myers is relocating the electric and cable lines from the overhead poles to
underground on Bay Street from Hendry Street to just west of Dean Street.
Bay Street Intermittent Closures from Dean Street to Lee Street
Motorists should expect intermittent closures to vehicular traffic on Bay Street from Dean
Street to Lee Street Sidewalks will remain open during street closures. Motorists,
pedestrians and bicyclists should expect delays and use extreme caution.
Linhart, Magnolia and Holly Utility Rehabilitation Project
The City of Fort Myers is scheduled to replace water mains and sanitary sewer pipe and install
some storm drainage on the following roadways:
• Linhart Avenue (Cortez Boulevard to US 41
• Magnolia Street
• Holly Road
• McCann Street
• Maple Avenue
• Hanson Street (just east of Holly Road to Sunset Road and Nelson Street to US41)
• Sunset Rod (Linhart Avenue to Hanson Street
• Sanders Street (Linhart Avenue to Hanson Street
• Hanson Street (just east of Holly Road to Sunset Road and Nelson Street to US 41
Linhart Avenue
Linhart Avenue closed to through traffic from Cortez Boulevard to Nelson Street while crews
continue underground utility installation.
Magnolia Street
Magnolia Street from Linhart Avenue to Hanson Street will be closed to through traffic while
crews install underground utilities.
Holly Road
Holly Road from Linhart Avenue to Hanson Street will be closed to through traffic while
crews install underground utilities.
McCann Street
McCann Street from Linhart Avenue to Hanson Street will be closed to through traffic while
crews install underground utilities.
Sunset Road
Sunset Road from Linhart Avenue to Maple Avenue will be closed to through traffic while
crews install underground utilities.
Nelson Street
Nelson Street from Linhart Avenue to Hanson Street will be closed to through traffic while
crews install underground utilities.
Local traffic will be accommodated. Through motorists should follow posted detour signs.
Residents and businesses may need to access your property from a different direction. Some
sidewalks may be closed during the project. Drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists should use
caution and be aware of construction equipment and vehicles entering/exiting streets in the
project area. This schedule may be subject to change due to inclement weather and unforeseen

FDOT Pedestrian Safety Construction Project on US 41 from Winkler Avenue to SR 82/Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard entails installing and relocating utilities and constructing
medians on US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82.
 Motorists should expect Ricardo Avenue closed on the west side of US 41/Cleveland
Avenue.
 Motorists should expect Hanson Street closed on the west side of US 41/Cleveland

Motorists – Please Use Caution When Traveling in Work Zone Areas
• Motorists should expect Hanson Street as a right-in/right-out only travel pattern on
the east side of US 41/Cleveland Avenue.
• Motorists should expect Linhart Avenue closed on the west side of US 41/Cleveland
Avenue.
• Motorists should expect Passiac Avenue closed on the west side of US 41/Cleveland
Avenue.
• Motorists should expect Coronado Road closed on the west side of US 41/Cleveland
Avenue.
• Motorists should expect side road closures from Winkler Avenue to Victoria Avenue
throughout the duration of the project.
• Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures and
detours on US 41/Cleveland Avenue during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours
Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project, weather permitting.
Additional work includes: Installing drainage structures, pedestrian signals, upgrading signals
and lighting, and resurfacing existing highway. The project will be constructed in three segments.
Each segment will have the majority of construction completed prior to moving to the next
segment. Construction will begin on the first segment from Winkler Avenue to Carrell Road.
Crews will work on the west side of the road initially and when that work is completed, they will
shift to the east side of Cleveland Avenue/US 41. The expected project completion date is the end

Ortiz Avenue, Fort Myers: Lee County Department of Transportation will be working in the
shoulder on Ortiz Avenue from Palm Beach Blvd to Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Work will begin
on Wednesday, May 5 and continue through Wednesday, May 12, 2021. There will be daytime
lane closures from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Flaggers will be providing traffic control. For further

Plantation Road between Colonial Blvd & Idlewild Street, Fort Myers (ROW2021-00076):
Mitchell & Stark will be performing roadway improvements, including installing a driveway
access to the cell tower on Metro Parkway, beginning Monday, April 26, 2021 and continuing
through May 21, 2021. The outside through-lane for southbound traffic on Plantation Road will
be subject to periodic lane closures between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on weekdays.

Plantation Road between Colonial Blvd & Idlewild Street, Fort Myers (ROW2020-00469):
Mitchell & Stark will be constructing a left-turn lane for a future residential development
beginning Monday, April 26, 2021 and continuing through May 14, 2021. The left turn-lane for
northbound traffic on Plantation Road will be subject to periodic lane closures between the hours
of 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on weekdays. For further information, please contact Chris Anderson

Street Light Maintenance: The week of Monday, April 26, 2021 through Friday April 30, 2021
and Tuesday, May 4, 2021 through Friday, May 7, 2021: Lee County DOT Traffic will be
performing street lighting maintenance on SR-80/Palm Beach Blvd from Prospect Ave. to SR31/Babcock Ranch Road. Motorists are urged to use extra caution, as there will be intermittent lane
closures in the eastbound and westbound outside lanes from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. For further

Street Light Maintenance: On Saturday, May 8, 2021 and Saturday, May 15, 2021, Lee County
DOT-Traffic will be replacing streetlights at the following locations:
Colonial Boulevard/Midpoint Bridge/Veterans Parkway from Summerlin Road to Country
Club Boulevard: Motorists should use caution, as there will be intermittent lane closures
in the eastbound and westbound inside lanes from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Colonial Boulevard westbound off-ramp to McGregor Boulevard. Motorists should use
caution, as there will be intermittent lane closures in the westbound inside lane from 9:00
AM to 4:00 PM.
McGregor Boulevard eastbound on-ramp to Colonial Boulevard. Motorists should use
caution, as there will be intermittent lane closures in the eastbound inside lane from 9:00
AM to 4:00 PM.

SR 739/Metro Parkway from Winkler Avenue to Arc Way: Maintenance permit project: Motorists
should expect intermittent outside southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours
from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews install utilities, weather permitting. Motorists should expect slow
moving traffic and possible delays. Motorist should use caution as crews work in the roadway.
SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from Knight Street to Palm Avenue: Maintenance
permit project: Motorists should expect the inside westbound lane closed from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
on Monday, April 19 while crews inspect the roadway, weather permitting. Motorists should use
caution as crews work in the roadway.
SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard from Riverside Drive to US 41: Maintenance permit project:
Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours
from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews replace power poles, weather permitting. Motorists should use

Motorists – Please Use Caution When Traveling in Work Zone Areas
I-75 at Colonial Boulevard: Construction project: Crews begin construction on the I-75 at
Colonial Boulevard Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) Project. Other improvements along
Colonial Boulevard include a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at the intersection of Six Mile
Cypress Parkway/Ortiz Avenue and a Superstreet intersection at the Colonial Boulevard/Forum
Boulevard intersection. I-75 will also be widened to provide an auxiliary lane in each direction
from Colonial Boulevard to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The off-ramps at
Colonial Boulevard DDI and the northbound off-ramp at SR 82 will have emergency stopping
sites.
• Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on I-75 and the on and off ramps at
Colonial Boulevard during nighttime/overnight hours from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the
duration of construction.
• Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 82 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Boulevard) through the duration of the construction.
Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the
roadway through the duration of the project. The expected completion date is mid-2024. The
contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida.
SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard from Marsh Avenue to I-75: Maintenance permit project:
Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays,
while crews replace utilities, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work in
the roadway.
State Roadways (US 41, SR 31, SR 78, SR 80, SR 82, SR 739, SR 865 and SR 867): Maintenance
contract project: Crews are sweeping curb and gutter on state roadways and bridges. Motorists
should expect lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather
permitting. Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and possible delays.
State Roadways (US 41, SR 31, SR 78, SR 80, SR 82, SR 739, SR 865, and SR 867): Maintenance
contract project: Crews are restriping the state roadways and bridges. Motorists should expect
lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather
permitting. Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and possible delays

Millennial Brewing Company will host the Mexican Food Street Fest on Saturday, May
1St from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Royal Palm will be closed from Second Street south to
Thompson Street from Saturday morning at 8:00 am until Saturday 10:00pm. Please
watch for detour signs to take you around road closures.
National Day of Prayer- The National Day of Prayer will be Celebrated on Thursday,
May 6th on the steps of the County Courthouse. The ceremony starts at 12:00pm until
1:00pm. Main St. from Broadway to Monroe will be closed from 11:30pm to 1:15pm.
