The Edison and Ford families enjoyed the Coconut Grove area of their winter estates.   Thomas Edison fished off the pier; the family canoed out into the Caloosahatchee River from the shoreline; and entertained guests in Pavilion on the river.  The inventor of the phonograph also enjoyed live entertainment.  He and his wife Mina hosted a variety of events that included musical performances on the grounds of their winter estate.

Rhythm on the River is a monthly event held on the second Friday of the month.  Every month Southwest Florida bands will perform in the Coconut Grove of the Edison Estate.   Guests will enjoy a magnificent sunset, cocktails, and live music on the historic site.  Cost:  Edison Ford Members $10; non-members $5.  For more information call 239-334-7419.

The Edison Ford is open daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. The Edison Ford is the winner of the 2009 National Stewardship Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is an official project of “Save America’s Treasures” at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a Florida Historic Landmark and a National Register Historic Site.
