Luis Enrique “Kiki” Sanchez is among the new generation of Afro-Peruvian Jazz musicians emerging on
the national scene. The Peruvian producer, composer, arranger, educator and pianist has captured the hearts
of many through his unique style that has filled the airwaves with a distinctive blend of soulful jazz, tropical,
and afro-Peruvian fusion. Born and raised in Lima, Peru where he studied piano with Coco Macedo and
Edermi Chavez, he started playing professionally at the age of 11. He became a well-rounded musician by
playing with “Orquesta Majestic” (led by his father, Maximo Sanchez). These experiences were the initial
building blocks to his future abroad. He moved to Miami, Florida to continue his studies, where he played
with Jazz and Latin Jazz legends such as Jim Gasior, Cachao, Mike Gerber, and Arturo Sandoval just to
mention a few. Several of his recorded performances have been Grammy nominated. Sanchez brings his
Salsa Quintet to Fort Myers for an evening of high energy Latin music.
