Note to Media: Exactly 100 years since it was founded, the Rabe O. Wilkison American Legion Post 38 will welcome a solemn reminder of service. Lee County Sheriff’s deputies and representatives from the post will escort a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial through Fort Myers.
The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will arrive in front of the Winn-Dixie on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 8:30 a.m. Officials will conduct a brief ceremony and take the wall on the final leg of its journey to JetBlue Park, where it will go on public display Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8.
The wall caravan will leave Winn-Dixie at 8:45 a.m. and head south on Old Olga Road, continue south on Buckingham Road, turn east onto State Road 82, turn south on Daniels Parkway and enter the west gate of JetBlue Park.
