Also that day, we are proudly hosting our annual Hands Helping Paws pet rescue fund-raiser, below.
Hands Helping Paws pet rescue benefit Thanksgiving Day
Our longtime 30-year, famed local bartender Sandy Knapp, started hosting a very special Thanksgiving benefit several years ago at the Lani Kai Island Resort and never looked back. A huge pet-rescue advocate, she said one Thanksgiving she was working the bar and felt extra thankful. That day, she decided all of her tips she raised would go to Animal Refuge Center (ARC). At the end of her shift, she ended up raising $500. From then on, every Thanksgiving day, Sandy hosts this benefit, with all tips and donations going to both ARC and now Bailey’s Way Rescue, Inc.
“Every year, more and more people get on board to help, donating items for the raffle prizes, coming by Thanksgiving to make their contribution to the cause. It’s very heartwarming,” Sandy said.
Several local merchants and businesses have already donated items for her silent auction and raffle prizes, including massage packages, skin and beauty packages, custom photography, one-of-a-kind artwork, resort stays, restaurant gift certificates, jewelry, jet-ski and parasailing packages, custom-crafted home goods and more.
And with all that, others have generously offered to match cash donations made to the benefit.
“You have no idea how thankful I am for everyone’s donations, and I am looking forward to seeing many friends, old and new,” Sandy said.
This Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 26, stop by Sandy’s bar anytime during her daytime shift and take part in her benefit between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., either by making a contribution to the collection, or purchasing raffle tickets to win some of these phenomenal prizes. The raffles take place at 5 p.m. and you must be present to win. Please visit the official Event page for further details: https://www.facebook.com/events/919259465269534
Live music Thanksgiving Day
Always the place to enjoy live and local music throughout the year, the Lani Kai is proud to host a great selection of live music throughout the property Thanksgiving Day. DJ TK will host beach-time fun and games from our beach stage from noon to 5 p.m. In the Sun Deck that evening, enjoy the blues duo K2 and the Unusuals from 5:15 to 8:45 p.m. And in Club Ohana that night, have some good ol’ classic rock n’ roll fun with Radio Ghost, starting at 8 p.m. FMB’s premier nightclub, Club Ohana never charges admission, and is 21-and-up entry.
