JUNE JURIED WINNERS ANNOUNCED DURING SOUNDS OF SUMMER CONCERT FEATURING SHEENA BROOK

May 16, 2018 – Fort Myers, FL – The second Sounds of Summer concert in the series features local favorite Sheena Brook and newcomer Melissa Lee! Plus, audience members will find out the winner of the People’s Choice Award for the June Juried Exhibition. Take part in one of the most anticipated summer events on Friday, June 22nd from 7:30pm – 10:30pm! The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center is located at 2301 First St. in the historic downtown Fort Myers River District.
The Sounds of Summer concert series brings the best local and national original music to downtown Fort Myers! Each concert features two acclaimed acts performing inside on the SBDAC stage. On June 22nd, Sheena Brook performs an hour-long solo acoustic set of her original music! Also, emerging Nashville singer Melissa Lee opens the evening performing her original songs. Plus, find out the winners of this year’s June Juried Exhibition! Artists who participated in the June Juried Exhibition enter free. In addition, FSW and FGCU students can buy one ticket and get one free by presenting their student ID at the box office.
Melissa Lee is a Country Music superstar on the rise. Her music is contemporary country that is highly influenced by pop and classic rock. She has the persistence, determination, and energy that will lead her to the top. Melissa’s voice can be compared to Miranda Lambert & Natalie Maines (of the Dixie Chicks). Melissa kicked off the new year with a sold out Album Release show at Kewadin Casino in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. She spent 2017 on tour with Confederate Railroad, and she has opened for many national acts such as Brothers Osborne, Cole Swindell, David Allan Coe, and more.
Though considered a Country Singer/Songwriter, Sheena Brook has created her own sound by playing all types of genres. With her quick wit and ability to connect and interact with her audience, Sheena uses techniques like looping to create music on the fly that leaves anyone watching in awe. A Southwest Florida Native, Sheena Brook has a laid back style with an energetic and inviting vibe. Behind the scenes, she has had the pleasure of collaborating with hit writers such as JT Harding, Andy Albert and many more. Sheena proudly released her EP “The First Time,” which is now available on iTunes, Spotify, and all other media outlets. She continues to play live, write music, work hard to make her dreams a reality, and live a positive life.
