ITALIAN FASHION DESIGNER MARIAPIA MALERBA SET TO STUN AUDIENCE WITH METAMORPHOSIS COLLECTION AT THE ART WALKS THE RUNWAY CELEBRATION OF FASHION OPENING PARTY
Fort Myers, February 3, 2016— The 5th Annual Art Walks the Runway Weekend of Fashion opens on Thursday, February 25th with the Celebration of Fashion Opening Party! Fashion designer extraordinaire Mariapia Malerba will be highlighted in a solo runway show titled Metamorphosis, an incredible Haute Couture Recycled Collection. Art Walks the Runway is produced and directed by Melissa Tschari DeHaven and presented by the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, taking place February 25-27, 2016 in the historic downtown River District at 2301 First Street, Fort Myers, FL.
Back again for her third fashion show debut at Art Walks the Runway, Italian artist and fashion designer Mariapia Malerba has created a unique collection of couture, avant-garde fashions that are made with recycled products such as paper, plastic, foam, and other unconventional wearable materials. Her unique and artful masterpieces are so beautiful, one would never believe what they are made from. Each dress is a masterpiece showcasing her incredible talent. After 20 years of experience in the fashion industry, Mariapia decided to create something out of the ordinary, thus came her Couture Recycled Fashion Designs. She will be showcasing a full collection of twenty designs.
Mariapia Malerba is an Italian-American artist who was born in Puglia, a region in Southern Italy. She studied art in high school and then went on to study at Accademia di Belle Arti, a fine art institute in Florence, Italy. After earning a degree in art, with primary coursework in scenography, set design, and costume history, Mariapia moved to Lake Como in Lombardy, Italy to work as a textile designer. She has created textile designs for well-known fashion designers, such as Dolce Gabana, Versace, and Cavalli. Working in Italy was an extraordinary time for Mariapia to grow as an artist.
Mariapia was born with a strong penchant to examine the beauty of life. Every morning, she wakes up with enthusiasm to bring her ideas, her art to life. Colors, objects, and shapes fascinate her. She enjoys combining concepts that are diverse. Mariapia’s work has been showcased in various galleries all over Italy and America, winning the “Raffaello Sanzio” first-place award in Rome in 2006. Maria Pia is an artist who produces a great range of art from abstraction to hyperrealism.
