Generous donation to benefit CACSWFL after Hurricane Ian

FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 2, 2023) – The Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida (CAC) recently received a $75,000 donation from the First Horizon Foundation. These funds will cover the deductible for a much-needed roof repair following the devastation from Hurricane Ian. The donation has quite literally kept the roof over the heads of the clients and staff at the Children’s Advocacy Center.

“At the First Horizon Foundation, we are here to support the programs vital to our community’s health and well-being. CAC supports children at their most vulnerable times and provides a path to healing,” said Bryan Simmering, Market President for First Horizon. “Post Hurricane Ian, the need in the community was even greater, but the CAC campus sustained damage from the storm and presented new capital needs. The First Horizon Foundation saw the needs and issued a grant to cover deductibles and any unplanned expenses that arose from the storm. When you have an organization that provides such a positive generational impact in Lee County every day, interruption of service is not an option.”

After the hurricane hit, the center’s roof was damaged, leaving the building vulnerable to the elements. Repairs were necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and staff, but the high cost of the deductible presented a significant challenge.

“We are beyond thankful for the support of the First Horizon Foundation,” said Julie Boudreaux, CEO of the Children’s Advocacy Center. “Their donation has made it possible for us to make critical repairs to our facility and continue providing essential services to the children and families who rely on us.”
